Anthony Rapp Update For Da Fans
 

Sorry for your gossip blog interruption, but Anthony Rapp, the original Mark from RENT responded to Neil Patrick Harris' impersonation of him in last week's Saturday Night Live. And since I'm obsessed with Anthony Rapp (first AIM screename was RappGurl), this is newsworthy.

Rapp says he was “very tickled” by Neil Patrick Harris’ impersonation of his Rent character on the Jan. 10 episode of Saturday Night Live, but wonders if “anyone outside of the community of die hard fans of Rent would have any idea as to why his hands were so spastic.

Haha, "die-hard Rent fans." Whoops, it's just me and every dorkie girl who was 13-17 in 1999. Okay, but also? Neil Patrick Harris played Mark in RENT after Rapp did, so I just assumed NPH was doing an impression of himself. Glad to know Anthony's taking credit.

True, Harris played "Mark" on stage at one point, and Rapp saw and enjoyed the other's interpretation of the character.

However, Rapp's hand gestures are so unique, they could be trade marked (no pun intended); so, Harris was imitating Rapp as Mark.
