Several of the bigwigs over at the Weinstein Brothers production company have left on the down-low, giving more credence to the rumors that Harvey and Bob are floundering to make it past awards seasons. So far, the company has two major contenders on the table; Woody Allen's Vicky Cristina Barcelona, and The Reader. But MGM already dropped their distribution deal with the brothers, several months before the contracts were up for renegotiation.

And let's not even mention all the problems Harvey is having with the court injunction keeping Project Runway from moving to Lifetime. Now, five executives in vp/co-head positions have moved on, or are in the process to do so by the end of the year? Um, not a good sign.

But according to Harv, everything is a-okay in the land of Weinstein:

"In all businesses there are always comings and goings," Harvey Weinstein said, adding that the company has been "fortunate to have executive vp promotions and integrated marketing Lance Still, international distribution president David Glasser and COO Lee Solomon join the company replacing key execs. We're always looking for great talent and new people to work with who end up teaching me all of the time."
Weinstein had only praise for the execs who are exiting: "Michelle, Maeva, Carla and Michael have been incredible assets who have all contributed to our success at both Miramax and the Weinstein Co. Maeva and Michelle worked with us for over 11 years, and Michael and Carla for eight. They are integral members of our team and more than that have become friends. We will miss their impeccable taste and their strong work ethic and wish them the best."

Usually when you only have remarkable praise for your employees, who all seem to be ditching out in droves after a decade or so or service, it's because you aren't able to afford them anymore. Just saying: if the finance situation was really as copacetic as Harvey makes it seem, there would be no reason for anybody to leave, on good terms or not.

So, any fresh-faced college grads with a diploma from U. of Cali's film department looking for a vp job? It pays pennies, but the swag bags at the premiere parties are so worth it.
