Apologizing for Ignorant Remarks Not an Option for Courageous Mike Savage

Even if autism is a "fraud, a racket," and any kid diagnosed with it is just "a brat who hasn’t been told to cut the act out," it is not okay to say such things! Just look what happened to Tom Cruise when he called psychology a big prank — he was riiiidiculed.

Then again, First Amendment obscenity law loophole Michael Savage has built his career on saying un-P.C. things. But this time, his attack on autism — which effects, like, 1 in 3 kids, depending on something we misheard Jenny McCarthy say — might have actual ramifications. Namely, big advertiser AFLAC has dropped its marketing from his radio show after Savage refused to apologize for his remarks, and the seven-station Super Talk Mississippi radio network has dropped his show.

Despite his show being carried by some 350 radio stations, all this trouble started only when Media Matters for America blasted its member list with news of Savage's comments. In return, Savage described Media Matters as "the homosexual mafia group." And it's probably run by Jews, too!

Just remember something. Everyone is driven by the buck. This is all about making money. If this guy or Bill O'Reilly or any of those push the envelope people did not get more money for being more outrageous, thus, getting more publicity with more people listening, the ratings going up, the advertisers noting this and giving the stations or networks more ad time, more money for those stations and networks, more money for the commentators, it would all fall down like a house of cards.
