Back When Us Weekly Told Us TomKat's Kid Was A Boy

Us Weekly cover

You remember that cover, don't you? Yeah, it's when Us Weekly invented a scoop and reported that Katie Holmes was pregnant with a boy. Funny story: Yesterday, Tom Cruise announced his new child was, actually, a girl. Leave it to Us to softly back-track on its "mistake::

Over the last few months, some media outlets (like the New York Post, MSNBC and, er, Us, for instance) reported that TomKitten was expected to be a boy, but alas, the couple had a baby girl. Our bad.

Nicely done, Janice Min. Especially after we received this report from a gossip rag mole about Us's reluctance to report from Camp Cruise too soon:

I heard that Us Weekly is in major damage control after basically being nonexistent during the birth of TomKitten. Insiders are speculating it could be because Us continually referred to the baby as a boy and even makes a note that on their website. Janice is so paranoid now that even when they heard other news outlets reporting the birth she waited almost an hour to post on their website. You know Us had their reporters and spys at the house and at the hospital – what could be another explanation for the hold up? My guess is trying to avoid another humiliating reporting mistake.

Fortunately, Jann Wenner is too preoccupied drawing a perfect circle to notice.
