Today's blah blah: Laurie Munn is the artist who did the window decs at Barneys this season, which feature all of the first ladies of today and yesterday, and possibly tomorrow.
As you can see from the pics though, Munn's portrait of Mrs. McCain is less flattering than if they had asked Jill Greenberg to do it, while Mrs. Obama and the rest of the first ladies look, "made to the women's general likeness."
Well, who knows on this one. Cindy McCain is sort of a she-beast/Skeletor, but there's no reason to make her forehead look that high when clearly it's only seven to eight inches long.
But how much longer do we have to hear the old "it's the artist's fault, not ours!" from whatever forum these pictures are displayed in, be it The Atlantic or a window on Fifth Avenue. How are there no checkpoints for the artists by the company, to make sure a big oopsies like this are not a regular occurrence?
A window front and a magazine cover both reflect upon what is to be found inside. If you can't rely on the person you've hired to present such things, then you need to go into a new industry. Something far away from the media's prying eyes. How much are lumberjacks being paid these days?

high forehead? aren't those her bangs? they both look like reasonable likenesses to me.
In reality Cindy McCain resembles Cruella DeVille from 101 Dalamations, so I don't think that this likeness is that far off…

The likeness is uncanny! That is how she looks so I don't know what all the fuss is about. Michelle Obama is beautiful and that is how she was painted. Cindy McCain is well, you know where this is going.
It is funny that when Hillary gets no love for her looks that people are up in arms over McCain and Palin recently on Newsweek. It is okay for people to portray these public figures as they see them.
I am very fair in my opinions and straight up.I don't like Michelle Obama at all but I do think she is beautiful and this portrait is a fair example but, please be fair everyone and put on your glasses and put down the polital punching bags Cindy McCain is a striking blonde woman especailly for her age and this artist obviously does not like her and wanted to protray her as physically ugly as possible and they did a great job!!
