Ben Silverman Fancies Himself "the Paris Hilton of NBC"
They are both crawling with STDs

The unrelenting press attention was something I didn’t expect, and I don’t think I managed it as well as I could,” Silverman added. “I am the only person doing this job that’s single, the only person under 40, I just think there are other elements that may play into it. Sure, I invited a lot of that onto myself, and this coming Sunday is the Emmys and I will be sitting with the nominees, not with the other network heads, I’m sure that would piss me off too…I may be the Paris Hilton of NBC, that’s what our head of HR says, but the fact is, I am so committed to the job,” [B&C]

Oh, (single) NBC exec Ben Silverman, there are only so many clever ways to call you a tool and tell you to get over yourself, but blogs are continuously racking their brains for new adjectives to describe your particular brand of (unmarried) douchebag.

Stop holding press conferences to promote you pseudo-celebrity status; when you couple your insistence of being the very hardest worker with a giant ego-inflated ball of nonsense about "sitting with the nominees," you end up undermining the former with the latter.

Your continued insistence on being a perpetual (bachelor) clown who thinks he's more famous than he is (no prospects, ladies), combined with your appearance on Entourage, ensures that even Paris Hilton can't climb to the dizzying heights your need for attention reaches. Congratulations?

It is totes obvious how B.J Novak's smarmy character Ryan on The Office, with his self-congratulatory attitude based on zero-to-little effort, is based on you.

Hey, I saw that conference! He wasn't bragging. He was answering a question. He's actually a really down to earth guy who will take time out to talk to anybody.

Actually, Silverman is a man who has reached his Peter Principle - or beyond that - and has absolutely no business programming a national network, or even a small-town TV station, for that matter. He doesn't care about viewers, only about being in a cool job with all its perks. Doesn't matter in the end - he'll be gone by the end of this season, or sooner, once his crappy fall lineup keeps NBC in fourth place for a fifth consecutive season. Way to go, Bennie boy!

Why is being single at 40 such an amazing thing? I've never heard of this as something to aspire to or be proud of. People are jealous of him because he's unable to commit? This confuses me.
