'Best-Selling' Author David Carr Wasting Times Cash Exploring Denver and Web -7.6

Though David Carr's The Night of the Gun sits at No. 12 on the Times' hardcover non-fiction best-seller list, so far Nielsen BookScan says it's sold only 9,000 copies through the week ending Aug. 24. That's 3,000 more than when we last checked in on it and, apparently, plenty to get on to the esteemed ranking. (Nielsen tracks about three-quarters of all book sales, so bump that figure up to about 12,000.) Meanwhile, Night slides down Amazon.com to #222.

No big whoop to Carr. He's blogging out west in Denver spying on Cindy Adams and doing yoga with Arianna Huffington. Sounds like worthwhile Times-brand reporting to us.
