New York's fashion forward darling Betsey Johnson may consider embarking on a less widely celebrated trend — selling out. When Wall Street calls, resisiting the smell of green is often a difficult task. And now Johnson, and her partner Chantal Bacon, are considering selling off all or part of the company they founded.
Johnson, 63, known for her whimsical dresses and club kid chic, would be the latest designer to take advantage of a boom in private-equity money that has flooded fashion and retail companies over the past few years.
Betsey Johson's fashion shows are always a hit with the press, not only for her fun, flirty designs, but also because of her spunky, youthful attitude. At while we would hate for Bestsey Johson to be owned by old investment banker dude named Tom Jenkins, it would probably affect very little in our day to day lives.
Besides the view from behind Jessica Alba, of course.
