Jeff Bercovici grabbed a spare moment of Bill Kristol's time today as he did the rounds for The IFC Media Project (he's a part of that? Well, that's not promising). Somehow the Portfolio blogger was able to smooth talk the conservative writer into discussing his contract with New York Times: a position, rumors say, that is up for grabs since he's gotten on one too many editors bad sides.
Did he expect to have it renewed?
"I don't think I've had that conversation yet," he told me.
Okay — but would he like to have it renewed? "I'm ambivalent. It's been fun. It's a lot of work. I have a lot of things going on. But I haven't really focused on it."
Kristol said he planned to talk to Andy Rosenthal, the Times's editorial-page editor, "soon."
Hmm…it all sounds very bitter grapes to me. If Kristol expected to get a reup, he would have probably sounded a little more, er, enthusiastic about the whole ordeal.
Perhaps he can go work for Sarah Palin, since he thinks she's the bees knees.
He "doesn't think" he's had that conversation yet. This is the kind of deep thought he's paid for.
He's boring and passe. It's not the Neocons time anymore and the election is only one symptom of how "out of the loop" all these guys and gals have become. Who's reading and listening to them now? One person, maybe.
