If TMZ's shtick is breaking courthouse news, then FoxNews.com gossip Roger Friedman's beat is charity scandal. More than happy to dig through the non-profit records of Scientology and Kabbalah, Friedman turns his attention to the Britney Spears Foundation, the pop star's erstwhile attempt at doing good for humanity. But like Ms. Spears' personal life in recent years, the foundation is suffering its own troubles. Tax filings from 2006 show the charity was nearly $200,000 in the red; some $150,000 came in as revenue, but $345,000 went out as expenses. Some red flags, in case you were looking for them: $50k was earmarked for Britney's summer camp for kids, but that's all but closed down; some $214,000 for grants are listed, but without any specifics for what those grants are for; and one of two people listed on the foundation's payroll is a former cop previously embroiled in a charity scandal.
Among the expenses were two salaries that each came to a little less than $40,000. One employee is Corina O. Biggar, who’s run Britney’s foundation from her home in Massachusetts. The other is listed as John McMahon, a former New York City cop.
In 2002, according to the Wall Street Journal, McMahon was involved in scandal concerning the Spears fund and the Boston-based Giving Back Fund, the umbrella group managing her donor-advised charity.
According to the Journal, the Giving Back Fund "alleged that the agent for Ms. Spears threatened to move the pop star's charity giving to another firm if the fund manager refused to hire her friend John McMahon, a former New York City police officer. The dispute was concluded with a settlement."

Britney is trying to help people.
We should all help her.
How does a foundation–which is bound by numerous LAWS, very strict laws, actually– that is run by a woman who supposedly has $100 million to her name end up in debt? Who is running the foundation, who is in charge of its finances, and why are there questionable spending practices at a foundation that is bound by numerous LAWS? Investigators and prosecutors should look into this, because that is NOT how a legal foundation should be operated. Spears is a mess.
Britney's public effort is popular, but people have an interest in taking advantage of her. Her charity is such an example. It is the price of success, people try to take advantage of you.
