In this week's Cable Quotables, Kathy Griffin courts Anderson Cooper like a fifth grade fag-hag would. The two were too snarky for correspondent Wendy, who anticipates Nancy Grace's return from maternity leave next week.
• “You know, I’ve stopped counting the Emmys I’ve won. But for you, it must have been special to win one.” Anderson Cooper, trying to feign enthusiasm about Kathy Griffin’s Emmy win, Anderson Cooper 360, December 31
• “I sometimes bring my own tuna in little cans.” Anderson Cooper, explaining why airport security always stops him, Anderson Cooper 360, December 31
• “Every time I call you Andy instead of Anderson, you take a shot.” Kathy Griffin, encouraging drunken behavior, Anderson Cooper 360, December 31
• “You had better watch your back, because I’m coming at you full tongue, grabbing your butt, you’re going to have to call security. Take it or leave it, Andy.” Kathy Griffin, living every gay man’s dream, Anderson Cooper 360, December 31
• “What happened to you? Remember when you were a news man? Now there’s blowup dolls of you.” Kathy Griffin, reflecting on the dark side of being a gay icon, Anderson Cooper 360, December 31

Okay, so I am finally going to do this thing albeit I see blogging as one big self-centered joke. I am not following my good judgement in this case but since I wanted to write about someone very dear to me that has been for the most part misunderstood for most of his life, I thought I would give in. If there is anyone out there who reads this and gets a change of heart, then I have done my job. I am blessed by our chance meeting and our subsequent connection. Here goes nothing…
I have known Andy just before Hurricane Katrina. At the time I really wasn't impressed with him outside of his pedigree and the curiosity I had with his guarded fame. The places he had traveled to and the people he has met intrigued me beyond the idea of the fame factor. Since that time I have occasionally read articles and stumbled upon websites to get to know more about the man I have been given the privilege to befriend over the past few years. Had we not met the way we did laughing about an article in that coffee shop one beautiful afternoon and not knowing who he really was until several days later, I may have run in the other direction. He is nothing like what the news media and the self proclaimed worship websites have made him out to be. He is a very compassionate and intensely spiritual man. He really thinks about others in ways that defy common logic. My earlier impressions of him have been replaced with humbleness and the overwhelming sense that I am a much better person for knowing him. He is a gift to the few of us who truly know him and a benevolent man to so many others whose lives he’s graced by his work and selfless charity. I am proud we call each other friends and touched that he cares about what I am thinking and who I am as a person when there are so many around for him to choose. I feel far safer in a world that has a man like "Andy Coop" watching over it. Thanks AHC for all that you have been and done for me. I'll get you back later for having that one picture you had published! ;-) JSAG
I admire Anderson Cooper for his compassion and his ability to capture the true essence of humanity. I watched Anderson and kathy on New Years Eve. I thought kathy was a total idiot! What happen to her "zillionaire boyfriend? Maybe not so rich after all! Anderson being the gentleman, did a great job of keeping her tacky comments under control. I do hope Anderson finds a much nicer and classier co-host to ring in 2009.
To dpmodj:
If you really knew Anderson and it's obvious you don't you would know:
The only person who calls Anderson "Andy" is his Mother and you'd have more respect for him to call him that.
You contradict yourself when you say, "At the time I really wasn’t impressed with him outside of his pedigree and the curiosity I had with his guarded fame." then "not knowing who he really was until several days later". So did you know who he was at the time or not?
He doesn't drink coffee, so hanging out in a coffee shop would be an anomaly.
You can thank him in person, you wouldn't have to here on this blog. You write "Thanks AHC for all that you have been and done for me." So do you call him "Andy" or not?
A couple of people on the Datalounge who were friends in the past have been shunned, what makes you so special? They reported that he has become more withdrawn and isolated with his fame. He wouldn't be stupid enough to let someone in who would turn around and write on a blog about their "relationship".
If you were friends, which I seriously doubt, you'd certainly be sunned now for doing this.
This picture that you refer to, is it the one at the dog show? Where he's standing beside some random guy?
BTW, my next most important thing to do is email this to Anderson, so he can see what you did and shun you.
Are you sure this isn't one of PeterGay's little stories that he like to write? This sounds similar to the story that PeterGay wrote about Anderson meeting that Pakistani photojournalist.
He doesn't strike up "friendships" with random people and CNN controls everyone who can contact him and they'd hardly let someone with a lack of brains enough to post this crap on here, anywhere near Anderson.
Hugs and kisses
Does anybody remember kathy bragging to larry King about her new boyfriend Steve Wozniak Crapping millions? Well, she must have confused him with Steve jobs. I could tell by her face she had been "crapped"on! Next time she should check her sources before she brags and makes a fool of herself!
How does no. 3 "Britney" know who "controls" Anderson? Britney sounds like a bit of a nut herself (she'd have to be with a name like that), or maybe it's just that crazy Canadian AC fan-stalker woman who thinks she has insight into Anderson's soul. Hahaha.
BTW, my next most important thing to do is email this to Anderson, so he can see what you did and shun you.
Honey, sounds like the ONLY person Anderson needs to shun is YOU, "Britney"!
CNN has a contract with Anderson Cooper and they do have say into what he does, where he goes, the stories he covers and who he work with. What part of that can the nutjobs on the fan sites not understand? Sounds like "Mack" is that nut from the anderBanter who thinks there's only one person connected to the internet. This was posted on anderBanter right before Britney posted her comment so again it was ONE of their regulars but we have to accuse someone else.
JSAG is Anthony Guiliano his gay male stalker but they never acknowledge Anthony because he calls Anderson's agent, stands outside Anderson apartment and goes to each and every personal appearance and reports back to them.
The New Years Eve show was hilarious.
These comments are creepy.
To Max
Oh, come on Max, Creepy? Your sense of humor must be hideous! I found Kathy's comments distasteful and cynical. Her New Year's greeting to "Woz" zillionaire, not! was insincere. She is using "poor" Woz as a front. She will remain on the D-list. Sorry, no private jet, mansion or caviar!
I missed her greeting to "Woz". What did she say?
I think that idiot from the anderBanter better knock it off with the lying, fake posting and general internet bullshit before she gets her a$$ sued.

I wish someone in the biz had pulled me aside when I first started in this industry (a la The Ghost of TV Future) and showed me a snapshot of what my life would be like 20 years later. It's certainly NOTHING like I thought it would be. As a young, bright, enthusiastic reporter, I wish I had known back in 1988 that by the year 2007:
– I'd still be working evenings/overnights and every holiday.
– I had spent more Thanksgivings and Christmases ALONE than back home with family.
– I missed the funerals of two grandparents, my closest cousin, and countless other people important to me because of my work schedule.
– I had become known as the relative who "moved to New York and we don't see much".
– My unhealthy lifestyle of trying to force my body to sleep during the day, over the course of two decades, would result in weight gain (despite my best dieting and gym rat efforts) … while the added stress of my JOB would eventually cause my appendix to rupture, bringing me dangerously close to death.
– I had never been in any serious or meaningful relationship because of my crazy work schedule.
– And that after 20 years of a distinguished and award-winning career in broadcasting (and having worked at all three networks), by 2007 I would have a harder time finding a job outside this industry than I would have back in 1988.
Newbies heed my warning! Get out while you still can!~~
and then grow up and realize that just because you think it doesn't mean it's true.
Good idea!
P.S. A U realy girl?
