There was this one time when NBC News' Andrea Mitchell practiced journalism.
Now, CNN's Campbell Brown gone and done it!
Here she is trying to get John McCain's spokesman Tucker Bounds to give just one example of Sarah Palin's readiness to be commander-in-chief should McCain somehow get elected and then die.
If you don't have the four minutes to spare, we'll sum it up for you: He can't.
More importantly is Brown's refusal to let Bounds off the hook. What's this — follow up questions and holding people accountable? New!

WTF? What, are you guys on the payroll of MSNBC now looking to extend the lame ass hatchet job they regularly do?
Campbell Brown is a complete retard. Literally, she's as thick as a brick and gives hope to millions going to broadcasting school since she proves you can never be stupid enough to land a TV news gig. She should just rip off her clothes now and start doing porn because that's all her IQ is good for.
He answers her plain and clear "She has just as much experience as Barack Obama has to be President. She has executive State level experience. She's been in executive office (as Governor) longer and in a more effective sense than Barack Obama has been in the U.S. Senate" — and that's only by the 2 minute mark of this.
MSNBC and its reporters are so in the tank it's become a national joke now. No one takes them seriously which would explain why they come in behind the Food Channel or Discovery Channel 8 in the ratings now. When it comes to Obama their call letters now stand for Make Sure (there's) No Bad Coverage!
C'mon Jossip get real! Omama has more executive experience than Obama
ILoveAmerica, my 70-year old Landlady…by just collecting my rent check once a month and logging it in…has more executive experience than Obama!
Let me give you the 411 on why Campbell ripped this guy to shreds. It had nothing to do with journalism. Her hubby was working as a consultant to Mitt Romney. Mittens was in line to be VP. He wasn't chosen. You do the math.
That Big Dumb Ape guy is a Big Fcuking Moron. By chance I happened to catch that exchange last night. Classic! Tucker Bounds is obviously a MORON.
You guys can mock or disparage Campbell Brown all you want, but that line of questioning is being asked by voters all over this country.
If someone doesn't come up with better answers and deliver them with more believability than did Mr. Bounds - the question of Ms. Palin's readiness to govern this county is going to be moot.
The "okay she's woefully unprepared but so is Obama" reasoning doesn't fly for anyone with an IQ above single digits. At least we've gotten to evaluate Obama through the election season - we've been able to determine if we think he has the intellect, the character and the disposition to be a good leader.
We have no way of knowing that about Ms. Palin, she is an absolute unknown, and unless the GOP takes the questions about her readiness or lack thereof seriously, we won't know any more before Election Day. Again, after that day the question will be moot.
BTW, I'm an Independent - my allegiance is to this country and not to one party or the other, and there are millions more like me.
never liked campbell brown….but damn, MCains' campaign staff never has a good answer to back up Palin's experience. Just like with this guy, the comment is always "more experience than obama". They have got to be struggling with the party line to make it sound like americans should feel comfortable with Palin as commander in chief. I for one, do not feel like she has the experience that is required at a national level.
Hey, you Big Dumb Ape. The question was "What decisions has she made as commander of the Alaskan National Guard?" Not about her experience and in either case he could not answer the question. No one can answer the question of "What the hell has she done?" Saying she has experience doesn't prove it. She was a mayor of a town in Alaska with less than 8000 people for goodness sake. I was Secretary of my Senior class, does that mean I can be vetted?
Note to Bounds: You did a terrible job. You're a campaign spokesman and you don't know the simple fact of just telling the truth? If Palin does not have any experience as a military leader–and she DOESN'T–then just admit it. But your stupid, lame, juvenile, b.s. pile of stinking manure just made you look stupid, made your boss McCain look stupid, made the Republicans look stupid, and made Palin look stupid and made you look stupid. Palin is inexperienced, is a terrible choice, was a dumb choice, and just destroyed McCain's chances of being elected president–and you know it. So don't throw crap at us–it just makes you all look stupid. Stupid!
republicans can BS like noone's business. they are just ridiculous. this woman is a JOKE and obama is a harvard grad and picked joe biden, a GREAT choice. you're gonna LLLOOOOOSSSEEE in november gop! hahahahahahahahahaha.
Hey Big Dumb Ape,
Campbell Brown is NOT on MSNBC. She's on Cnn.
Also, were u listening to the same interview? U've missed the mark completely here sir.
cindy mccain is even better saying that sarah palin has foreign experience since alaska is so close to russia. i mean seriously. what dumbasses.
Oh I caught it.
Quite a revolting display partisanship indeed!
We have a woman nominated for VP who has significantly more experience than the gentleman nominated for President (for her, that is Brown's party the Democrats) and she had the gall to repeatedly question and badger him!
And you call this journalism? No, they call this the bias of the mainstream media (and why it has lost so much respect).
I remember her 'performing' the same functions for the Democrats when Bill Clinton ran back in 1991.
I mistakenly thought she had matured, and so, was willingly to watch her once again.
What a mistake .. never again!
How many of you commenting have taken the time to actually check if Palin does in fact have more executive experience, and what were her duties as governor?
I'll bring a little of this up for you, as I'm in the military and had to check this for myself.
"Alaska's National Guard is unique in that it has the only full-time active duty Units in the country, and it's strategic position mean's the emplacement of the 49th Missile Defense Battalion."
Because of the vast natural resources and proximity to russian territory, Gov. Palin recieves regular intelligence briefings. Her access to classified information is ABOVE Obama's and is at the same level as Senator Biden's.
She's had to deal with delegation's from the Russian Federation when visiting Alaska for fishing and waterway negotiations. Vladimir Putin has praised her in the past (but coming from a guy like Putin….) as 'one of the only American politicians I like.'
There was the 18 year construction deadlock she ended recently by negotiating with a canadian firm, and all the other dealings that go along with Alaska and Canada.
Like Obama she's been to Iraq, but she actually went to Germany too.
In peacetime, the National Guard is commanded by the governor of each respective state or territory. Sarah Palin plays no role as the commander of the Alaska National Guard outside of the state. Maj. Gen. Craig Campbell, adjutant general of the Alaska National Guard, on Sunday said he and Palin play no role in national defense activities, even when they involve the Alaska National Guard. The entire operation is under federal control, and the governor is not briefed on situations. Palin herself has stated she paid little attention to activities outside the state, including the war, prior to 2007. The current Alaska National Guard General was appointed in 2003–more than three years before Palin took office.
On Sunday, John McCain himself touted Palin's national security credentials by referring to her experience with the Alaska National Guard.
So the question becomes this: Was John McCain mis-informed by his campaign staff regarding Sarah Palin's role?
the pentagon is in charge of the alaskan national guard dummy. not sarah. uh-duh.
This just shows the that Campbell Brown is just a media stool for the democratic party. He answered her question. Why does she keep asking a question he answered? Sarah palin has accomplished more while she was Governor than either Obamo or Biden. She has made executive decisions. Neither Obama nor Biden have. Both of them are all talk. There is no debate on this. Campbell is just being rude on this. Why does she do this and was so weak on Obama. The SNL characterization of her is accurate. We have no independent media. Just wacko lefties.
"John says:
This just shows the that Campbell Brown is just a media stool for the democratic party. He answered her question."
Tucker Bounds never answered the questions about Palin's experience. For the record, I am neither right or left and nor was Ms Brown's questioning.
If you can't see that Mr Bounds was evading Ms. Brown's questions then you are either dumb or completely in denial. John, more kool-aid?
I have laughed my behind off at the outrageous bias of the media in their determination to get Obama elected at all costs, and I am a Democrat. Campbell Brown is the most unprofessional so-called journalist I have ever seen. I would not have had a problem with such a grilling as she gave Tucker if Obama had had to face the same fire one time since the primaries started. The truth is that he has been selected by the media to win this presidential election because it will bolster their ratings and put money in their pockets. Campbell Brown should be used in college journalism courses as an example of unprofessional conduct.
Campbell Brown was being a good reporter. Please notice that both McCain and Obama campaigns do not answer the questions they are asked… they give answers to the questions they thought the journalist should ask. Over the years, the lazy news media has accepted this along with handout news releases they pass on as stories. Write CNN and tell them that Brownie did a good job. It is the job of the journalist to afflict the affluent.
Well, Big Dumb Ape, it's a good thing Campbell Brown is with CNN if MSNBC and it's reporters are in the tank. If you're going to leave rants and raves, and plan on being taken seriously in a political debate, you should focus on getting your facts straight.
The name Big Dumb Ape suites you perfectly!!
CNN and Campbell Brown are telling me EVERY President who was a Governor that has been elected to the White House knew Foreign Policy. I only know of two in history who truly HAD that experience, our last one was 100 years ago. Let's compare Foreign Policy experience fairly! If it that important to CNN and the rest of America to air such an interview if that’s what it should be called. Are we voting for a VP or for a President? If we voting for a President ? Then McCain holds that experience. If we are voting for a VP, Palin holds that experience. Biden has really only been a spectator. His authority comes from his chairmanship, and experts in the field do not consider him a heavyweight. Biden's subsequent ideas about Foreign Policy in Iraq raise still more questions. When the war turned sour, his main proposal was to partition the country into Sunni, Shiite and Kurdish regions. If you don't know why that would be a problem you know as much as Biden about Foreign Policy! This is what he stated in June 2007: "The surge isn't going to work either tactically or strategically." We know he was WRONG!
As for Palin~ The Alaska Army National Guard is a component of the United States Army and the United States National Guard. The Gov. of Alaska also is commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force. Alaska air national guards men have been sent for tours of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq. She has troops on her hand. How many has Obama (the street organizer) or Biden (the spectator) have? She has more experience than both Obama and Biden combined! The duties of VP fit Palin best. So Campbell Brown and CNN have not educated the public actually. I believe you and your network have insulted the public’s intelligence. We need honesty, not spin. Campbell Brown and CNN are excellent examples of a ‘spinner’. Then Michael Boore takes the place of McCain on Larry King. Even better to prove the bias. Stop the false advertising! I ‘ll stick to the newspapers from now on! CNN is just a tad too bombastic and pretentious for my taste.
I witnessed the interview. I watch A LOT of political programs. I didn't see anything wrong with her line of questioning. She asked a legitimate question simply requiring ONE simple answer/example. He looked like a fool.
As I said, I watch many of the political programs. I don't refer to them as NEWS programs - there's true journalism, then there's infotainment. The majority of these primetime shows fall into the latter category, in my opinion. I have, in my lifetime voted Independent, Republican, and Democrat so I consider myself pretty open minded. I am admittedly leaning Democrat this time for many reasons that I won't go into here, I'm trying to stick to the subject.
I've seen O'Reilly and Hannity of Fox belittle, badger and yell at guests many times. Yet no one avoids going on those shows to be interviewed and scrutinized. The fact that McCain has cancelled his interview with Larry King because of this particular interview with Campbell Brown demonstrates to me that they're afraid of the questions. It speaks volumes to me. If they can't even take on a CNN reporter, what are they going to do when they have to face a REAL threat? People are upset that Palin is even being questioned on her "foreign policy experience", yet the McCain campaign flaunts it repeatedly (therefore, putting it out there for scrutiny). They can't publicly exaggerate her qualifications and expect NOT to have them analyzed. They simply refer back to Obama's experience (or lack thereof). Obama's campaign has been facing relentless investigation and analysis for almost 2 years, and didn't flaunt his "experience", yet they don't hide from the questioning either. They answer the questions as best they can. Palin's only been under the microscope for a few weeks and they're screaming "sexism!" (I wonder how many people noticed all the SEXIST buttons worn by the delgates of the RNC - all about how HOT she is… hypocrites!) As a matter of fact, Obama's interview by O'Reilly (the "fairest" interviewer on TV *eye roll*)is on most of the week next week, except for a small portion aired this past week. All about ratings, of course, he has to stretch it out for a week instead of just airing it in it's entirety… Pinhead!
Seems to me the McCain campaign and the Republican pundits can dish it out, but can't take it…
I watched Campbell Brown question Tucker the Republican spokesman and she was totally ignorant. I've been a Democrat for 50 yrs. and just because Campell is a Democrat she has no right to be so ignorant to the other party. Maybe she should go back to her old job or be a stay home mother for her new baby. I think CNN should teach her to ask the question and tell her to SHUT HER BIG MOUTH, and let her VICTIM answer her. I think she should listen to the other journalist and take some pointers. She is disgusting to listen to and I do not plan to listen to her big mouth any more. She has been picking on Sarah ever since she has been a VP candidate. Maybe she is jealous of her since she is popular and easy to listen to instead of a vicious mouth reporter. I think CNN should re-think of having her on their program. Nancy Dvorchak, Hastings, Pa.
I really wish people would look at this whole race rationally. We cannot afford another four years of the disaster that has been created by the Republicans. What should be analyzed is the judgement of these candidates. Trying to make an argument about experience is moot because we are entering a new era of global economics, international politics and warfare. George Bush could not understand the new world we are entering and because of this inability we are where we are.
We need a president and vice president who can analyze the world from a totally different paradigm. John McCain's mindset is an old imperialistic one that caters to the greed of the corporate elite and the war machine that Eisenhower warned us about. We need Obama, a person who is not afraid to follow a new vision.
John McCain made a good choice for his VP, but for all the wrong reasons. She is a good choice if you simply want to distract people. However, she is not a good choice if you want to govern. Please, everyone, pay attention to what is going on. Palin's pick was simply a very good chess move to match one historical event with another and draw women away from the Obama camp. Her pick had nothing to do with governing our country. It had everything to do with winning an election. In this instance John McCain would rather damage our country than lose an election. He is definitely not putting country first.
Anyone complaining that Campbell Brown was ignorant, outrageous, or a fool should just turn off their televisions. You clearly fail to understand that the role of a reporter is to delve into the statements being made and gather FACTS. A reporter is supposed to ask the tough questions.
Campbell Brown effectively showed that Tucker Bounds could not provide any FACTS to back up his claim that Palin has foreign policy experience. Hence, she did her job and she did it well.
AND WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO OBAMA IF BIDEN DROPS DEAD?????? SAME ?
Leave Campbell Brown alone. She did an awesome job. YOU ROCK CAMPBELL! They should have you as one of the people asking the questions in the upcoming debates.

HUH?
Suggestion DROP THE LIGHTER AND BACK SLOWLY AWAY FROM THE BONG DUDE!
Re: Campbell Brown. I have never in my life seen a journalist that has such a preset agenda. Her liberalist clouds her common sense. While conducting interviews with any conservative candidate or staffer if she doesn't get the answer or response that agrees with her opinion she is rude and very unprofessional. Isn't it a reporters job to fairly report and not make it her personal campaign to discredit and bash anyone that doesn't share her opinion. I love CNN but now change the channel when she airs.
