Veronica Verekova

Victoria's Secret model Veronica Varekova is not too pleased with Maxim magazine. According to the Daily News, the lad pub used a shot of the model (which we think might be this one we found on Google) for its cover this month without her consent or permission.

After turning down Maxim, FHM, and Stuff, Verekova is naturally upset that the magazine used her image, along with an article that did not contain an interview, for the cover. (Think Jessica Alba on the cover of Playboy.)

The saucy shots, showing the luscious lovely dressed only in panties, stockings and high heels, were taken more than a year ago for a feature on Victoria's Secret by British magazine GQ.

"They were too racy for GQ to use, and they really should have been destroyed," said a source close to the model.

Well, EIC Ed Neeham is on the way out, so he probably figured, he'd get one last high circ issue under his belt, and let the ex Stuff editor deal with the whole "getting sued" thing.

Maxim

What the hell people? It's Friday … relax. The news that Dennis publishing is pulling former Stuff EIC Jimmy Jellinek to replace the recently "resigned not pushed out" editor in chief of Maxim is not that super surprising. From Nat Ives' column to our inbox:

Maxim magazine today named Jimmy Jellinek to be its next editor in chief, succeeding Ed Needham, who is parting ways with the laddie title May 31 to return to Britain with his family. Mr. Jellinek is currently editor in chief at Stuff, which like Maxim is owned by Dennis Publishing, and was previously editor in chief at Complex.

Ok, everyone. Take a few minutes to crack a beer, stare at some girls in bikinis, and let's get on with our weekend. We are very happy for Jellinek, but it's not like they're selling the magazine to Robert Redford or something totally crazy like that.

Second big shocker of the day: Keith Kelly was wrong about something. God, that guy loves a scandal so much, he'll just sort of make them up. By replacing "resigned" with "forced out" for about the zillionth time, Kelly not only makes the same lame jokes, but reports the same Freyed stories.

Via one of Gawker's never ending supply of inter-office memos:

Many of you have read the article in today’s New York Post about Ed Needham leaving Dennis Publishing. I just want to clarify that Ed Needham resigned from Dennis Publishing. He is not ‘about to be forced out….’ as the New York Post article states. Ed actually resigned about three months ago and has been quietly and professionally working out his notice period.

And, via one of our readers (you guys are the best):

It doesn't help that Keith Kelly is totally wrong on his scoop, anyway. What an ass.

We completely agree, sigh, and we didn't even have to kill any trees to do it.
