With nothing to do on a Saturday morning but exercise their right to free speech that would've been suppressed in their motherland, "throngs" of Chinese-Americans stormed Sunset Boulevard, outside CNN's offices there, calling for the ouster of anchor Jack Cafferty, who called China's exports "junk" that was made by "goons." Cafferty and CNN maintain he was referring to the Chinese government, not its people.
"The protesters lined Sunset Boulevard from Cahuenga Boulevard to Wilcox Avenue chanting 'Fire Cafferty' and 'CNN liar' and singing the Chinese national anthem and other patriotic songs. They waved Chinese, American and Taiwanese flags and directed their anger at the news channel's dark glass tower.
"'It's really unacceptable,' said John He, an organizer of the event. 'It maliciously attacks all Chinese. This would not be accepted if it was directed at any other ethnic group.'"
Oh, if only that were the case.

Actually this is not only for the Chinese people. CNN (and some other media) has been doing this freely for a while and it's about time they have a good look at themselves and see what they've become. I'd say "thug s" fits them better. They have been abusing and bullying people and it's a shame in this country that it is allowed to happen.
How can you protest about something your government won't let you see? We'll fire Cafferty when you unblock CNN, BBC etc.
"How can you protest about something your government won’t let you see?"
Don't you dare to use that sentence again if you claim this country has human right. Ok, we Chinese in the US will all shut up if you admit that you are not better than or below the PRC. HOw about that? Think first before you speak your double standard words.
But the chinese government are goons and thugs.
Boy, China is copping a lot of attitude lately about how the rest of the world should behave and talk about China.
It begs the question of what China ultimately plans to do about it - attack us with its army?
They've trashed Pelosi, trashed Hillary, trashed the French, trashed everyone in the world for not towing their line. As if it is undiplomatic to fail to be complicit in China's ignoring of dozens of obvious elephants in every room of China's elaborate totalitarian lie.
Their factories export deadly heparin, cough syrup, pet food and even kid's toys.
On state visits here in the US, China operatives painstakingly videotape protesters for hours on the street who line up along the leader's motorcade routes, to make a record of every single individual along that route and we let them do it. We let them spy on us.
They are prepared to shoot any mountaineer who is pro tibet on Everest this year to "protect" their disastrous torch relay, according to a news article published today.
What is next?
There is probably an entry in the DSM for what China's political personality is, some kind of Totalitarian Personality Disorder.
Giving the olympics to beijing, i think most agree now, was a big mistake. this olympics is already a bad memory. If I were an athlete, I think I would be tortured with the moral issues involved with going. It wasn't fair to put athletes in a position to strain to the breaking point our belief in convening at the olympics at all costs.
Disgusting.
To No. 1 Xixie, your post:

XiXie, its called the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. CNN lambasts President Bush too. It's called free speech. It is the First of our amendments because it is the most dear to us.
It you don't like it, take a hike or come get us with your army or go find a country with a constitution that patronizes your sensitive tush.
TO ask Americans to give up the First Amendment is the deepest insult possible. We say what we like and libel laws grant remedies for speech that goes to far. Lambasting journalists gnawing on political leaders or political ideologies not only isn't illegal under our libel laws, our laws go out of their way to protect that kind of speech over all other kinds.
You are condemning the very jewel in our crown.
By the way Jossip, you might try to get your reporting accurate - he said china acts like goons and thugs - in other words, china's nasty regime.
He did NOT say the deadly toys it exports are made by goons and his attack was not against an ethnic group. Misinformation peddling is what is insulting in a free press, not CNN.
First Amendment right is very respectable. But it has its limits. Libel law is one. Do you remember that radio commentator who called a women basket ball team "ho"? Some think it alright for black rappers to use that term, but not for the white commentator. Eventually he got fired from the station. So much for first amendment rights. You would think he would go to court to defend his rights? No. He rolled over and apologized. Smart guy.
You seem to think the 1st Amendment protects people that use terms "nigger", "chinks" indiscriminately? Think again. It only allows you the freedom from criminal persecution. It does not protect you from civil remedy.
It is ok for Americans to lambaste Bush. After all, the voters are his boss. So it is up to the Chinese voters to lambaste Hu. It is not CNN's business to call Hu, the top representative of China's government, "goons and thugs". It is not anyone's business to call China a nasty regime.
If you want to argue that Hu is not elected. Think again. Hu is elected by an electoral college not the same as the US one, but similarly. Americans are just brainwashed by US media into thinking that everything USA does is superior to the world.
When the French stood up to the USA by not falling for the lies of Weapon of Mass Destruction in Iraq, what do the US populace called the French? Frogs. And of course French Fries became Freedom Fries.
In China, I kept meeting Western tourists who are pleasantly surprised by how freely Chinese citizens conduct their private life. The police there truly leaves you alone. You get a higher chance of being gunned down by a NYPD officer than by the "goons & thugs" in China. Don't believe me? Look up the relevant statistics.
I don't much care what Cafferty say. It doesn't hurt me a bit at all. I am just sad that citizens of USA are misled by prejudice and ignorance of people like Cafferty. You want to know the truth? Go and find out for yourself. Go visit China someday. From L.A., it is as low as $799 for a 9-day guided tour, air-fare/hotel/meals/guide included.
Except this has nothing to do with "freedom of speech" or censorship but rather professionalism and ethics in the field of journalism. Don't try to make this into another human rights issue. For a country that preaches the importance of freedom of speech you sure like to trivialize it when it doesn't swing in your favor and/or interests.
Wait a minute…
"With nothing to do on a Saturday morning but exercise their right to free speech that would’ve been suppressed in their motherland"
Dude, where do you think the majority (and the largest) of the anti-cnn protests was held? IN CHINA.
Dumbass. Oh the irony of you trying to make a completely inaccurate and baseless statement that was meant to be ironic.
FAIL.
Oh and you wanna talk about "stereotyping assumptions"? You take one person's quote and equate that with the "angst" of Chinese-Americans as a group?
More FAIL.
US government should learn from Chinese government as far how to deal with those Chinese protesters in US. Lock them up and send them to slave labor camp for ten years. That way these morons will love US government just as much as Chinese government
