Chris Matthews Will Let You Know When He's Ready to Stop Speaking
So nice to see MSNBC's anchors have learned something from, uh, the last 48 hours. There was the Scarborough "shovel" incident, the Scarborough v. David Shuster incident, and yesterday, leading up to Hillary Clinton's powerful speech, a Chris Matthews v. Keith Olbermann incident, shown here. Trying to do something to resuscitate his sexist image, Matthews doesn't appreciate Olbermann signaling to him to wrap things up. This is now the third such on-air spat between MSNBC talent, and competitors and closely watching to see just how much chatter this week is about the DNC, and how much is about the fact that nobody on 30 Rock's pay roll actually likes each other.

There once was a talk host from Philly
Whose boasts of "playing hardball" seem silly.
For when paired with a loon
This poor partisan goon
Gets all pouty and lashes out shrilly
To me it's evidence of how the complicated web of relationships has crumbled since Tim Russert left. Russert handed out assignments and somehow amidst the egos and backbiting created some kind of a family/team atmosphere. Now (see the posts here on Andrea Mitchell, David Gregory, Matthews, Olbermann etc…) it's like a free-for-all. Even Chuck Todd seems on edge…
It is time for Matthews and Olbermann to retire, effective immediately, from broadcasting. Really–no joke. They are not journalists. They are not entertainers. They are not even broadcasters. Their behavior on the air is juvenile, childish, moronic, inane, idiotic, unprofessional and a spectacular daily assault on real journalism. It is a farce, a joke and a gargantuan embarrassment to real journalism. It is also time for NBC-Universal to close the doors on MSNBC and shut it down–just shut it down completely. No one's watching, no one cares, and everyone is tired of seeing grown men act like babies on television week after week. It's over, it's done, put a fork in it.
