Remember when Dennis Hopper used to be edgy? When every word out of his mouth was an eff-bomb, but it was hard to notice because he was always so tweaked out? From Easy Rider to Apocalypse Now to his epic failure The Last Movie, Hopper was a counter-culture icon in the 60s and 70s, and has come to represent a whole generation of bad-assery since then. Then he teamed up with Kelsey Grammer to ruin movies about America.

Fine, you both give money to the GOP and won't be seen at one of Barack Obama's celebrity sleepovers anytime soon. But while you may be free to spout your political inclinations during PSAs, it's unwise to let your leanings taint your film careers by appearing in every awful patriotic (read: conservative) film this year.
Swing Vote was the worst piece of nonsense in the world, and now you both are doing American Carol, which the Internet is so ashamed of that it let the trailer for the film break on The O'Reilly Factor last night. (To give you a hint of what this movie's like, O'Reilly makes a cameo in it.)
Nope, noers, nuh-uh. Kelsey, go back to singing. Hopper go back to kicking Keanu Reeve's ass.
James Woods is a Republican, and you don't see him making an ass out of himself by appearing in shitty films (correction: whoops, Woods is in American Carol too). Of course, he's got giant wang, so he already has the self-confidence the pair of you lack.
Alas, if you so desire, here is the trailer for David Zucker's "comedy" about a Michael Moore-esque blow-hard who is convinced by ghost's of America's past to love his country. American Carol, you guys:

Dennis Hopper is still in the counter culture! Its you and the liberal media that are now the so called "mainstream"…
Correction… James Woods IS in An American Carol
After the feces I hear coming out of the mouths of John Voight and other neonuts, I thank God I am not a Republican. If I had to be subjected to listen to Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter or Bill O'Reilly 1 day a week, I'd still kill myself!
To be an actor or artist is to be free and welcoming with the ability to balance opposing thoughts. There is no balance, thinking or welcoming attitudes in the land of Republicans.
It's funny that you have a still from David Lynch's Blue Velvet at the top of this article and somehow manage to omit it from your list of Hopper's counterculture films. Have you ever seen BV? Its conservative elements most certainly did not involve Hopper's character, Frank, and they weren't so much conservative as small town as seen from a Lynchian perspective. BV was, however, filmed in 1985 at the height of the Reagan era. So maybe that is why you've connected it to Hopper. Having been in one scene of that film w/Hopper, however, I can attest that there was much bad language, drug paraphernalia, and "use" of drugs throughout. Granted, that might be considered Conservative behavior now when Rush Limbaugh's habits are recalled, so never mind.
Santa Maria,
Do you not see the hypocrisy in your own comments?
@Todd-
Oh you've got to be kidding me. Unfortunately, you aren't.
Heh, heh, heh, American Carol will be as big a hit as Ben Stein's anti-science film.
These conservative actors are such filthy hypocrites.
If Y'ALL don't like the Hollywood Elitist Machine all Y'ALL Patriotic conservatives out there in TV-land, then quit the liberal Hollywood machine and go get a Piggly Wiggly cashier job like the folks from the heartland Y'ALL claim Y'ALL love so much!
Bod, you are a ditz, boy. There are only 4 reasons for being a lefty.
1. Ignorance (Uniformed)
2. Stupidity (Not smart enough to know it's the antithesis of freedom)
3. Evil (Satan's servants out to destroy every decent thing (including unborns) in this world
4. Elitist greed (This is the only one that makes the tiniest modicum of sense. These are the ones who think they'll be in control when the longed for socialism is fully in place. Don't think for a second that Katie, Matt, Gore, Feinstein…the LOT of them, will live as they demand everyone else do!)
Santa Maria Eats Big Bananas says: I would kill myself it I had to listen to Rush Limbaugh.
Is that a promise, Listen at noon each day….
Liberal Lackeys - another liberal whine - a - thon. Why don't you go and help Obama-rama find the 58th state, or have a sushi party and lament the fact that the "fairness doctrine" hasn't passed in congress yet (read - liberal talk shows stink so bad no one will listen to them unless forced). You got one thing right, you still live in the 60's - get a life!
and who would want to attend one of Obama's sleepovers..!!
