Looks as though the revamped New York Daily News website hasn't yet found its niche among the "bored at work" set. As Keith Kelly (of the rival New York Post) gleefully writes, "the Web site which has undergone three major redesigns in the last seven years, has been a sore spot for the Daily News."
As it turns out, that's a bit of an understatement.
The massive redesign of the Daily News Web site has failed miserably in the eyes of its shrinking audience. According to the latest Nielsen Netratings for May, the News' site was the No. 11 ranked newspaper site with 2.29 million unique visitors, down 26 percent from a year ago. In contrast, newyorkpost.com was ranked No. 6 with 3.9 million unique visitors and an increase of 73 percent from last year.
Complainants attributed their disapproval with the website to an inability to find Dick Corkery's stalkerazzi photos, too much Dave Barry and "the way the text is annoyingly close to the left side of the screen."
