Buy your way into publishing on eBay

Getting in the holiday spirit, eBay is auctioning off a series of items to raise money for charity. Let’s see, there’s the Hummer H2 with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s autograph, tickets and backstage passes to and upcoming Alicia Keys concert, a performance spot at the Apollo and a Super Bowl ticket-airfare-hotel stay package. And then we almost missed the bottom of the happy press release:
Even aspiring Hollywood executives can bid on their big break, bidding to earn: a 2 week New York City internship with Esquire Magazine, a two week internship in New York City with Gotham Magazine or a power breakfast with Jonathon Tisch at the Regency with a signed copy of his book.
It’s lovely to see getting inside the world of publishing can still be paid for, but we should note: three-month internships won’t land you a job, so your 2-week stint will only be valuable for, at most, two party invites. As an added bonus, ask for some business cards to slip to NA’s bouncer to impress all your friends at Pace.
