Star's New York bureau chief David Caplan ditches Candace Trunzo's lair for VH1!

Oh, wait, we already reported that?

How about: Former Star New York bureau chief David Caplan launches new celebrity blog for VH1!

Oh, phew, something new to report.

Normally, we don't give a shit about new celebrity blogs. They launch by the hundreds, every day, and we always seem to get an email about it. Supposedly, celeb blogs are so hip, we even launched one. But David Caplan's Page Sizzler caught out eye for a few reasons. First, for its similarity to a certain gossip column that forced one celeb blogger to buy a new domain name. But second and mostly, because it's a site from an actual gossip industry veteran with an aim to, like, break news and stuff.

The site technically launched at the end of last month, but seems to be picking up steam as Caplan works his sources. Or, more likely, as Best Week Ever's readers continue to shun him, as they did when he tried to use the witty blog to break Lindsay Lohan news. Page Sizzler also appears to be a place to plug Caplan's various media appearance – MSNBC! XM radio! – not unlike a certain other tabloid type.

But before you get to thinking this item is leaning toward "hatchet job," rest assured we've actually got a modicum of faith in Caplan. So this is more of a "backhanded compliment."
