David Letterman: Don't Know if We Can Trust John McCain
Old man is squirrely, loves nuts

David Letterman is back to doing what he does best: bashing John McCain. Even after the senator offered to make up the bad blood between himself and the gap-toothed Late Night host by rescheduling his appearance on the show (after he canceled to do Couric and then lied about it), David Letterman is not so willing to forgive and forget. Especially if it keeps him relevant and in the news to have a feud going on with a presidential candidate.

Watch the video of Dave's monologue and the written transcript for those of you at work with no sound (all of you are at work with no sound), after the jump:

"So now, in an attempt to save his campaign, they’re talking about coming back. You see what I’m saying? So we said, 'Sure, we would love you to come back.' And even on the phone, he said, 'I’ll bring…Sarah.' But they’re being squirrely. Politicians can be squirrely. Because we have a date picked. We do this show every afternoon at 5:30. He wants to do the show at 5. So one –- we have no guarantee he’s going to show up, period. And we’ve kind of already rearranged our schedule on his behalf to save the economy, right? By getting that big-headed kid in here to talk about the politics. You know what I’m driving at? I just don’t know if we can trust him."

Isn't it Letterman's job to be funny…he's always been snarky but this isn't working for him. He should probably go get a job on MSNBC. He'd fit in beautifully. I think when Keith Olbermann filled in for McCain that night he brought a thermos of Kool-Aid for Dave to drink.

Dave is saying exactly what everyone else is thinking. The GOP candidate this year is a joke. The VP candidate even more so. McSame blew it when he bailed on Dave. It was a dick move and Dave is holding his feet to the fire for it.

Rock on Dave!

All future Latenight guests make a mental note: DO NOT PISS OFF LETTERMAN!!!! This has been some of his best material in years. The entire media owes a huge debt of gratitude to the McCain/Palin campaign for all their material in the past couple of months. They didn't even need writers for this stuff….it writes itself!

It's not that they don't want you to use his middle name…its to keep small minding people from using it out of context…the man has never hidden Hussein…but most right wing nutnobs (typo…but I'm keeping it) use it to stimulate fear…get over it

No. 8 Jackarooty says:

I'm not voting for him so there's nothing to get over. He has done everything to hid his middle name. But if he's comfortable with his middle name let's see if he uses it if and when he's sworn in.

Barack Hussein Obama is a Muslim you know. I got an email several months ago stating all of the facts that support his Muslim faith. After all, if it's in print then it must be true.

I really envy you Jackarooty.

I have had problems sleeping recently, despite the fact that I have done all the "right" things - graduated from college, got a good job, lived within my means, paid all my bills on time and made sure that I have the requisite savings, emergency fund and retirement accounts.

You see, my 401(k) is already on life support and I'm terrified that the current financial catastrophe is going to get worse before it gets better, especially if McCain is elected. Maybe I'll lose my job, my home, my medical insurance, etc. All because of the de-reg policies of the GOP that McCain wants Graham to help him to continue.

It would be so much easier for me if I didn't have to worry about such mundane things as eating and could make my political decisions based on the candidates' middle names. You are so lucky Jackarooty.

Dave's better off not having McCain and Mooselini on his show, the less we see of those two jokes the better.

Dear Dee,
I do have the life that you envy! Enjoy your Kool-Aid and try not to choke on it.
Yes, Obama is a Muslim and we'll be wearing burkas after January 20, 2009.

You're amazing though, that you took the time to write all of that SO seriously on this gossip website. Yes, you live a serious meaningful life.

Wow Jackarooty, you really wear your BIGGOTRY with pride.

Try to be content with yourself. If you were truly SECURE and AWARE in your beliefs, whatever they may be, you wouldn't have this obvious need to project such vile hatred and fear.

Grow a pair, get over it, and be thankful that you have been blessed to experience living life. And most of all, try to find something to LOVE instead of HATING, it is easier on the soul. TRUST ME.

Jackarooty,

Why thank you Jackarooty; my life is indeed quite meaningful!

You have no comment on McCain, Graham and the de-reg hangover that we're all dealing with. Ignore the facts - sling the ****.

Sadly, that’s just exactly what I have come to expect from those of your ilk. (But I was so hoping to be pleasantly surprised.)
