David Shuster Banned From MSNBC for Suggesting Chelsea Clinton a ‘Pimped Out’ Pawn in Campaign Machine

This is the video that, as of today, got David Shuster suspended indefinitely from MSNBC. On yesterday’s Tucker, the well-liked correspondent suggested the Clinton campaign was “pimping out” Chelsea. Are we looking at the next Don Imus?

Uh, no.

Bad choice of words? Sure. But not an unforgivable offense. Hell, she is being pimped out by the campaign.

Expect Shuster’s on-air apologies to make the blog rounds shortly. This morning’s version is on Media Matters.

The statement from NBC, via TVN:

On Thursday’s “Tucker” on MSNBC, David Shuster, who was serving as guest-host of the program, made a comment about Chelsea Clinton and the Clinton campaign that was irresponsible and inappropriate. Shuster, who apologized this morning on MSNBC and will again this evening, has been suspended from appearing on all NBC News broadcasts, other than to make his apology. He has also extended an apology to the Clinton family. NBC News takes these matters seriously, and offers our sincere regrets to the Clintons for the remarks.

Joe Scarborough is behind this…be sure of that! David is the only one at MSNBC who calls Joe out on his crap.

David was hosting Tucker, not reporting….hosts get to give opinions. Gasp…that’s right, NBC…you have smart employees, let them show it off!

Political loyalties aside, any woman who thinks this sexist, disgusting language is permissible to make about Anyone who is not an actual prostitute should get her head examined. This is not a joke. It is not teasing. It is not funny.

Period.

Well Shuster must have seen that smarmy Chris Mathews get away with bashing the Clintons every day and thought it was okay. They might as well rename the MSNBC channel the Obama campaign extension. They are doing all Obama’s dirty work so he could look like a uniter. David Shuster was just doing what all his colleagues are doing, I wonder why they chose to throw him under the bus.

Chelsea is a 28year old woman campaigning for her mother like evry other candidate’s family have campaigned for them, but the media have to find a way to make it look sinister just to continue demonization of the Clintons. I wonder what the media will do if Hillary wins this.

The word was out of its element. The imbecile who used this word tried to show his hipness. Instead he revealed he’s probably quite out of it. His job is about communicating and there should be journalistic standards. How ironic- we’re trying to clean up gangsta rap lyrics but this fool thinks its okay to use this word. If Hillary refuses further MSNBC appearance I will probably go ahead and vote for her. It shows she cares about removing courseness from media !

You know, my problem isn’t with phrase “pimped out.” True, it’s damned distasteful, but it’s just a phrase. What I find ridiculous and offensive is the press taking perfectly normal activity - in this case, a family member helping with a campaign - and implying that it’s something corrupt, questionable - “unseemly.” Why does the media CONSTANTLY do this with the Clintons? And NOBODY else?

Hillary Clinton’s daughter is helping out with her mother’s campaign. So? Why does this jackass Shuster seem to think that there’s something wrong and “unseemly” about that?

What an idiot. He got what was coming to him. Completely inappropriate language, especially when he wouldn’t dare sling phrases like that at any other candidate and their family members.

It is really sad that you can’t say what you feel in America when it comes to the Clintons. Give the man a break, he is only saying what a lot of us are thinking… They are using their daughter to get votes. Come on people, grow up!!! Politics is like religion, they all want you on their side. And as far as the other canadidates go, they aren’t using their families like Hilbilly is… Thats a combination of Hillary and Bill and that is what you will get if she is elected.

There is no such thing as journalists anymore. Anyone can say anything and hide behind the “commentary” fence or “entertainment” fence like Bill O’Reilly does constantly and Sean Hannity does and Chris Matthews does. My feeling is that if you are on a “news’ network, then you are a news show and a higher and stricter code of ethics is in play.

you guys and the Hilary campaign are crazy. This is ridiculous and we hear worse crap every single day about George Bush and his family. Most voters know this has been blown way out of proportion, for the Clintons campaigns personal gain. It is no wonder she has lost 3 states today. People are sick and tired of this type of “poor me” BS.

The Clintons have GOT to develop a thicker skin.
Getting outraged and making political hay out of
a comment on a show not many people were watching
is ridiculous.

Hill and Bill want it both ways. Chelsea can
make statements or call potential delegates, but
will not entertain questions,even from a 4th
grader? She’s not some imperial princess, scrutiny
and tough tactics are part of the game. Her
parents know that, they are two of the most tough,
cynical and manipulative politicos around.

Chelsea is 27 years old. She should be able to
handle one little comment.

“Mommy” rushing in to defend her, throw a hissy
fit and trying to boycott a major network is just
pathetic. I have NO respect for the woman.

First Queen Hillary DEMANDS the media leave Chelsea along, then Queen Hillary puts Chelsea on the campaign trail. If Chelsea Clinton is on the campaign trail then she IS legitamate fodder for the media.
I cannot David Shuster can be canned for covering a legit news item. Whatever Clinton shill suspended David Shuster should be fired. How can a mere candidate CONTROL MSNBC? Ooops, I forgot that Don Imus was a frequent Clinton critic until his infamous ‘nappy haired comment’.
If MSNBC and CBS are going to be shills for the Clintons, how can we trust their news coverage. Queen Hillary Clinton owes David Shuster an apology - AND back pay!!!

wow. I can’t believe anyone would interpret Shuster’s comments as anything but offensive and wildly inappropriate. Hillary Rocks and the Clintons do not deserve this demeaning commentary. It baffles me that there are so many idiots out there so threatened by her candidacy when she has the most sophisticated and complex handle on the solutions to the problems our country faces. go hillary!
