Dennis Leary Tries Backpedal Autism Outburst, Fails Miserably

Crazy man, sort of good actor Dennis Leary was on the Daily Show last night, trying to excuse himself for some comments made in his latest book, where he called kids diagnosed with autism "stupid" and "lazy."

Leary wants people to know: he was just talking about kids whose parents pretend they have autism. And all those Internet trolls self-diagnosing themselves with Asperger's.

As the sibling of someone with autism and a fan of
Leary's, I have to say that it's a stretch to think he was mocking autistic children. He's obviously a smart guy, and I think he explained his point pretty clearly during his Daily Show interview. Plus, he is right to be frustrated by the legions of lazy parents who are all too eager to use medication and diagnoses of "ADHD" and "learning disabilities" to make up for their lousy parenting.
