If you're among the 11 people paying attention to Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank leaving MSNBC for CNN, then these are the facts you know so far — and let's put facts in quotes, like this: "facts" — Milbank penned a Post piece that wasn't too Obama friendly; because of the article, he got slammed by the web ring of left-ys who said his reporting was, at best, lax, and that he took quotes out of context; after four years of MSNBC appearances, he suddenly showed up on CNN opposite Keith Olbermann's Countdown program; Obama-lover Olbermann explained in a Daily Kos blog post that MSNBC had been "waiting for [Milbank] to offer a correction or an explanation for his column," which never arrived, before letting him back on the air; and lastly, Milbank announced he inked a deal with CNN.
Except maybe that's not exactly how the "facts" went down?
Milbank says he was in talks with CNN since July 7, or nearly a month ago, and long before his July 30 Post column about Obama was published. Insists Milbank: "It has nothing to do with last week’s column. I like Keith, and I’m sorry he’s angry about my departure." And thus, the accusation that Olbermann is trying to spin Milbank's departure from MSNBC as an involuntary one, when maybe, perhaps, Milbank went where the money was.

Olbermann is totally spinning this to curry favor with his liberal base. He saw Milbank's departure for CNN as the perfect opportunity to claim he had Milbank fired for not showing sufficent contrition/apologies for his Obama piece. He just didn't count on Milbank refuting the BS with pesky little things like facts. D'oh!

Look, the Daily Kos/DU/Huffington Crowd were pissed with me for not calling out Milbank on this whole Obama quote thing. Can I help it if Milbank decided to ditch my show and I was compelled–compelled do you hear me? to announce that I was the one who had let him go from MSNBC. Even if he quit first.

Enough! It's over. No one really cares. Milbank and Olbermann and producers at both networks all screwed up by talking about this in public–which they should not have done–and by not sitting down like adults and professionals and solving this in private, which they should have done.
Dana Milbank took Obama's quote out of context. Considering how much Keith Olbermann slams Bill O'Reilly for creating spin; I can see why Dana left the show.
According to the Politico today, Olbermann and his staff had gotten pissed off at Milbank long before the Obama column. Of course that wasn't the way that Olbermann played it for the Kos fans. He claimed that it was because of the Obama thing. In truth (and Olbermann clearly lied in his Kos column and on air), Milbank had notified them he was leaving at least as far back as July. That's the big deal here-not that Milbank allegedly took Obama out of context. It's Olbermann's lying about Milbank which is at issue here. Good for Milbank for setting the record straight.

All I do know is that Bill O'Reilly is the biggest dickhead on television now, followed closely by Sean Hannity. Those guys don't let facts get in the way of their opinions and bloviating. Bill shouts down any dissenting guest louder than anyone in the media. Unfair and Unbalanced is his mantra.
