Disposable Labor

The BBC is planning to cut 2-3,000 of its 23,000-member workforce, or 12 precent. And if the Thomson-Reuters merger goes through, they could be looking at 3,000 axed.

    I know two people who studied full-time bachelors degrees whilst working for the BBC… during work hours. I know another who used his hours to retrain in web design; the same friend told me there was a man in his office who didn't appear to have a set job and hadn't for years. He was so weird that no one asked him what he was supposed to be doing. The BBC is massively overstaffed, they could cull even more.
