Cougars: NYC is endlessly fascinating, and the show itself hasn't even been fully cast yet. Just the fact that Cougars — older women who date younger men — steal a page from the gay handbook and call their partners "cubs" just shows the thin line these women tread between the absurd and the fabulous. Nothing wrong with dating younger men, but treating younger boyfriends like a piece of meat isn't going to solve millennium-old gender inequality. Which would seem to be the case to hear it straight from the cougar's mouth during another party/cattle call for the show:

"We are looking to shatter the stereotypes that surround cougars and cubs," explains (cougar) Ellison. "It's important for a woman to realize that she gets back what she puts out. If she positions herself as a smokin' hot mama, it is probably just going to lead to a booty call."
First of all, no. You can't "shatter a stereotype" that was created with American Pie. It's like these women all saw that one episode of Sliders where Jerry O'Connell and Co. went into that dimension where women were the dominant force in the workplace and sexually harassed all their male co-workers. How wacky! Plus, you're still purporting the stereotype that women don't want a "booty call," but a long-term relationship, and that if they dress seductively they are going to attract the wrong kind of cub (the kind that wants to have sex with older women?).
It would be better to re-imagine these women not as glass ceiling shatterers, but as natural predators — although, given their cup size, way less likely to get caught by Chris Hansen.

Ho-lena Christensen would be the perfect host for this show.
How many younger guys has she bedded?
I'm going to have to take off my shoes and use my toes to count.
How do they shatter a stereotype if they are just middle-aged copies of tanorexic twentysomethings with quite unnatural breasts that look like oranges cut in half and which are obviously the result of plastic surgery? (see picture above, I hope that this is not representative for the oh so proud species of cougars)
So the message is that you can only attract younger males if you try to look youthful? So it´s more about the physical side than the state of mind? And then ponder about whether you are only good for a booty call or eligible for a serious relationship? Clearly, this is a breakthrough role model for modern female empowerment. Anyways, since it is trendy now to be a cougar and I am still at least 15 years too young to be one, I don´t know much about it. But I have the resolution that I when I´m a granny, I will pinch my young male nurse in the butt, although that might make me a cave lion then ;)
