Drawing Barack Obama Is an Exercise In Race Relations

obamaillus.JPG

Drawing illustrations about black people is hard, because every trait exaggeration you might be inclined to make — nose, lips, ears, chin … but especially the nose and lips — can throw up the red flag of racist portrayals. This has never really been a problem for Anglos, because as well all know, Jews have big noses, Italians have too much hair, and Ross Perot's ears really are that huge. [The Root]

Well blacks have always been portrayed with big googly eyes, outragous noses, exaggerated lips, eating water melon and also called MONKEYS.

So yeah, Curious George is not cute to blacks, nor is Water Melon.

What's wrong with that caricature? His ears kinda stick out and he has Uma Thurman fingers.

I like Curious George and watermelon. Watermelon is a delicious fruit. It's not my favorite since it's pretty light on the nutrition value but it's tasty. I certainly don't think it's cool to portray black people as monkeys or gorillas, but I'm not going to start disliking them because some idiots want to reduce black people to animals that are less evolved. Hate the idiot, not the cute animal.
