Hoverboards, colonization on Mars, cars that run on love — out of all the promises late 80s/early 90s films made to its children, how come the only thing technology reaped is better CGI to portray things that we still don't have?

Well, wonder no more, as the future is officially here, albeit in a crappy, analog form. Esquire's digital cover, y'all:

 

Whoops, that's boring. And to think that the service was developed by E Ink Corp., those nice people who supplied Amazon with that electronic Kindle doohickey, which is supposedly sold out though, like swing voters, we've never seen one walking the streets.

If you showed a kid from 1984 this video, what do you think he'd be more amazed by: The blinking cover of Esquire, or a magical video website that can show you anything from terrifying furry porn to the wonders of a parrot dancing to the Backstreet Boys?
