This morning, we woke up thinking it had been a while since we heard about that perennial news story, evening news ratings. Sure, the Internet, CNN and pharmaceutical ads have made evening news irrelevant and impossible to sit through, but millions of Americans still get their news through basic cable. And that demands coverage.
Anyway, Brian Williams, with 9.2 million viewers, has a slight advantage over Charles Gibson, with 9.1 million viewers. Katie Couric is still around, but is nowhere close to that with 6.7 million viewers. Even with B. Williams ahead, he’s lost 300,000 viewers in November, while Gibson has gained 200,000.
Williams’s appearance on SNL probably didn’t hurt his ratings. After the writers strike, expect a Charlie Gibson cameo on Desperate Housewives.

Having gotten very bored and tired with Cable (as in CNN, Fox News Network etc…), I have returned to main network news. I like both men, but I REALLY like watching Charles Gibson's news. He's to the point, firm, not stern and fatherly. I admit that that's attractive to me.
Ever since I saw Brian Williams on SNL, I've tuned into his broadcast. He was hilarious! I have all new respect for him now.
