First True Sign of a Scarcity in Commodities
First they came for our TP and we did not speak
 



(Full Disclosure: I graduated from Oberlin College in the Spring of 2006.)
While watching the Dow plummet over 700 points Monday, some of you may have been thinking, "Well, how does it affect me?" Listen, just because some people were poor before the (first) Depression doesn't mean that once the markets crashed they somehow did better than the people who had money before the plummet. Sure, the rich may have lost more gross income overall, but they still for the most part faired better than the lower-class, who found themselves moved off their land and shuttled towards California to pick fruit for no money. Yes, everything from 1929 to The New Deal resembled The Grapes of Wrath.

So don't think that just because you don't have any money, or you're a poor college student (who likely has a ton of loans out) that you are going to be fine once we switch the currency over to leaves and berries.

Case in point: The signs in the restroom at Oberlin College:

It's called trickle-down economics for a reason folks (yuk-yuk but seriously we're all screwed.)
