Geraldine Ferraro Plays the Gender Card, Hates When She’s Fingered for Playing the Gender Card

It was Ladies’ Morning on the Today show, with Meredith Vieira welcoming Geraldine Ferraro and
Rachel Maddow to talk about whatever is left of Hillary Clinton’s campaign, which is essentially an excuse for Terry McAuliffe to run around MSNBC refusing to declare his girl out of the race.

Ferraro, of course, found herself defending comments in March that, “If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.”

At this point, Ferraro is biding her time defending Clinton’s female status. So will Clinton blame sexism for losing the nomination? “I certainly will. It wasn’t so much they were referring to gender, it was the way they attacked her. What happened in this race is every time you raised the issue, you’re accused of playing the gender card. Latent sexism has been around in this country for a long time, in this campaign it was patent.”

Geraldine needs therapy! Two points:

1. Clinton seemed to be attacked not because she was a woman, but because she was the front-runner!! If you are in front, expect to get the blunt of the beatings. And if you can’t stand the heat…
2. She needs to ask herself, if Hillary Clinton was a man and not the spouse to the former president, would she have done so well in the race?

Geraldine Ferraro is off her rocker!! I especially loved how she did not let anyone else talk! I’ll bet those other two women were just ganging up on her because she is a woman.

I regret ever voting for her. She has officially lost it. I am a feminist and don’t believe for one moment Obama’s comments were sexist.

For me, a 50 something white woman, Geraldine Ferraro has turned from hero to an embarrassing, bitter has been. Sadly, her demonstration of lack of grace facing loss perpetuates the myth that women are not strong enough to handle toughness; that we resort to whining and victimhood. Lose like a man if you want to be treated like one, sister Gerri. Shake hands, say nice things, and go get ‘em next time.

I just watched Ferraro talk about this on Fox & when asked for concrete examples to support her charge that Obama was sexist she could not cite 1. Essentially, she is joining Hillary’s whiny express train to loserville that looks at every excuse except Hillary’s poorly executed strategy. There was no excuse for this given that Billary has had a front seat to what it takes to win campaigns for the last 3 decades.

Tina - you are either just a dumb ass or a stupid bitch. I watched the FOX news segment as well and Ferraro gave MANY examples of the rampant sexism against Hillary in this campaign. It’s okay to be a sexist, but God forbid if you mention the word “race”. Screw Obama and his racist wife - the farthest he is going to go is Governor of Illinois.

People dislike Hillary because of “who” she is and not her gender. Even now staying in the race she shows he lack of character.

She is not Bill Clinton!

Geraldine needs to get a grip. Obama supporters and campaign workers have been abused because of race and she is whining about a sign? Please. She was only the democratic nominee because she was a woman and now she is playing the gender card? Ridiculous.

Paul… amazing… you are spewing sexist remarks right now and don’t even get it! And then you follow it with some racism just to add the cherry on top.

Ferraro is dead wrong on every example she gave, thus negating them as examples of sexism:
1. “Boys piling on” was actually the rest of the pack attacking the front-runner heir apparent, not the little lady.
2. “Annie Oakley” was attack on her new-found gun-slinging persona. Could have used Billy the Kid if she’d been a man.
3. “Iron My Shirts” was a staged event based on Hillary’s mention of Bill asking her to iron his shirts on Morning Joe earlier that morning.
4. “Dusting off the shoulders” was from a Jay Z song that has nothing to do with gender… in fact promotes women as equal to men.

Ferraro is OUT OF TOUCH and stark raving mad.
She does not speak for this woman.

I don’t know what’s worse: Ferraro’s playing of the Gender card, or her race baiting.

It’s not racist or racial for her to say Obama wouldn’t have gotten as far as she did if he was a black male, but Obama is sexist for criticizing her. He’s sexist for using a popular hip hop gesture that has nothing to do with gender?

On Fox, she even blamed black reporters for Hilary losing, saying that their sexist for not saying any nice about Hilary (a lie by the way).

I can’t believe she even gets airtime at this point.
