Watch your back, Facebook

After losing the chance to overpay for Facebook to Microsoft, Google has plans to enact its revenge.

The company will make a major move in the social networking scene early next month. (Wasn’t that move called Orkut and isn’t it only popular in Brazil?—ed.)

Maka-Maka, the code name for the project, will exploit feed engines from Google reader to make “activity streams” similar to Facebook's news feed. Google also wants to open up to third-party developers, which Facebook has been doing for the past six months.

Brazilians are excited about these developments. Everyone else is too addicted to Scrabulous to notice.
