Laughing and Crying With Anderson Cooper and Oprah / Jossip
Laughing and Crying With Anderson Cooper and Oprah
— Tue, May 23, 2006 —

Even though we have huge issues with the Anderson Cooper/Oprah media empire, it's not like we're not going to watch the interview. And since our editor is on location in Oprah's hometown, where the show is aired at 9 a.m., we have a sneak peak. (Don't read on if you want to be surprised by the interview.)

We visit Anderson Cooper's old east New York apartment, and relive the moment his brother committed suicide. Totally tragic. Coop plays the journalist the entire time, revealing that he goes over the moment his brother died again and again in his mind, wondering if there was a family strolling past on the sidewalk or having dinner in the apartment below, and how they may have been affected. Heart of gold that guy.

After all the depressing stuff is over, O shows some super cute footage of youngster Coopster reporting in Asia and lots of banter between the TV personalities. (Then a little more tragedy when they talk about Rwanda ... can't forget Africa when you're on Oprah.)

There are a few moments of fun "inside the Coopster" footage and chit chat. After the jump, some of our fave quotes from his one on one with Oprah.

"I thought everyone's grandparents turned into statues when they died." — Anderson Cooper

"My brother and I used to wear costumes all the time ... we were obsessed." — Anderson Cooper

"If Charlie Chaplin is in your living room, you are royalty ... don't apologize for being rich." — Oprah

"Anderson, didn't I email you like three times? At one point I said, I have to calm myself down and stop writing him." — Oprah

"I'd go on job interviews and ask for reccomendations, and my mom said, 'wear blue, it's the color of confidence." — Anderson Cooper

"I think you are the new breed of reporter ... it's so interesting to me that you are the most feeling reporter on TV today." — Oprah

"I need to earn a salary, just like everyone else." — Anderson Cooper

Even if you feel we spoiled your dream of watching this interview, it's still worth tuning in ... if only for the photos of post collegiate Coop in his little channel one cubicle ... priceless.

Love the Coop. Can never get enough of him and he's been all over the media lately, which is good for me.

Oprah was driving my NUTS trying to MAKE him as obsessed about his worth as she is. The way she kept bringing back his family's fortune was disgusting. He looked uncomfortable with it. But I'm glad he held his own with that comment about needing to earn a salary.
