Ferrer ferrets out a Bloomberg-Bush handjob
— Tue, Nov 1, 2005 —

We're already loving Fedderick Ferrer's new ad more than all those Geico commercials put together. Just think: Mayor Michael Bloomberg giving President Bush the ol' 1-2 wank in cartoon format?

Freddy, you genius!

The mayoral hopeful debuted this new ad yesterday that's got Bloomberg's camp claiming it hits below the belt — literally. But beside the fact that we've got these republican buddies giving a Jon Friedman-worthy wankjob, we should point out that we had to turn to the New York Post to find out what was really going on:

Bloomberg's team was fuming over the animated 30-second TV spot ???????? titled "Buddies" ???????? which shows Bloomberg and Bush as cartoon characters riding together like cowboys on the same horse through an oil field, while country music plays in the background.

Bloomberg wears a suit. Bush sports a cowboy hat, a plaid shirt and a holster with a gun. They are bobbing up and down.

Then Bloomberg's right hand, which holds a wad of cash, moves up and down in a rhythmic motion below Bush's belt, as a grin crosses the president's face, and his arms and legs quiver momentarily.

Compared to the sanitzed version offered by the New York Times:

It shows an animated photo-collage version of Mr. Bloomberg throwing cash in the air while riding a horse with a similarly cartoonish version of President Bush. The same country love song Mr. Ferrer used in his radio ad plays in the background as an announcer tells viewers that Mr. Bloomberg "made the largest donation in the history of the Republican Party, $7 million."

Not even a hint of the handjob? Just because this isn't Sunday Styles doesn't mean the NYT should take a day off from pointing out the obvious.
