Perez In Limbo: VH1 Deal Still Possible, As Are the Chances Jesse Metcalfe Is Straight
— Thu, Nov 16, 2006 —

perezserved.jpg

Is Perez Hilton's reality show keeping a dream alive? After our report yesterday that VH1 had passed on the lackluster production, a tattler speaks up from inside the MTV talent factory and claims the home of Best Week Ever hasn't officially passed on the show yet — but there's been no deal signed. This latest bit of information places Perez's deal in the "in talks" stages (where it's languished for months), though another source claims VH1 turned its back as far back as last month.

Either way, there is one huge concern at the network: Perez's outing of gay celebrities. An insider tells us MTV brass is furious that he continues tormenting the likes of Lance Bass, T.R. Knight, and Neil Patrick Harris — and it could be a deal breaker. The blogger (real name: Mario Lavandeira) is pissing off execs on personal and professional levels: Not only are many of the decision makers gay themselves, but they're worried about connecting the MTV family to someone who makes a living off forcing red carpet walkers out of the closet, and how that could impact their congenial relationships with powerhouse publicists and agents.

And just imagine the possibility of parodying Perez on BWE suddenly being off limits!

I think the man is despicable. Especially in helping the likes of paris hilton further torment lindsay lohan. That's not cool either. He shouldn't become famous for ridiculing celebrities. Nor should he get his own show. Working hard should be the reward, and so many of these people (unlike the paris + paris crowd) worked hard to become actors, actresses and singers. It's like rewarding the schoolyard bully who gets bad grades and never does anything, for being a schoolyard bully and taunting all of the successful kids. Give me a break hollywood. Are we that desperate now?

He's a scumbag, disgrace and liability. His brand of "entertainment" has no place in the media. He likes to "out" people merely because he can never look in the mirror and see a well-adjusted, openly gay, self-respecting person who loves and is loved. BITTER BITTER BITTER MARIO. Go find some other use for your muck-raking, mean spirit.

He is despicable, I agree. I further loathe his sense of entitlement to out people and his deluded sense of celebrity just because his head is permanently lodged up Paris Hilton's ass. He's fallen into the trap of believing his own hype and I hope SplashNews takes him down.

However, celebrities are made to be mocked and there are plenty of other celeb gossip bloggers out there who manage to do it with intelligence and a sense of humor while still keeping a grasp on reality. He should learn from them.

I find it AMUSING that VH1 and MTV's deal breaker is the outing issue? What, haven't they visited his site before!@? hahaha

Why didn't they have a problem associating themselves with him prior? Maybe for the same reasons they would have a show like Flava of Love on the air?? TRASH.

Obviously, if they're stopping at the outings it's only because it's unpopular -for now- but it's not coming from a place of trying to maintain high standards in entertainment.

I disagree!! He is very entertaining, and has been at the cutting edge of Tabloid-internet....most of the stuff the magazines write are fiction because the celeb's use their power to spin the story in their favour, Perez allows the people to decide for themselve. I've stopped buying Magazines because of his blog. People just can't handle the truth, so what if someone is gay most of the time everyone knows anyway, all Perez does is offer him opinion it's up to you to believe it or not. I feel it's theres no difference between the magazines who print lies on behalf of the celeb's publicist and PerezHilton.com

There is nothing entertaining about this guy. He reminds me of the bad, menacing pig on Saturday morning cartoons. Cutting edge of tabloid internet? Seriously? His blog reads like a vapid 15 year old's diary entry. There are SO many smarter, better choices out there in the blogosphere. He's a talentless, self-loathing poseur.

He can't write and he is NOT funny. He can't even photoshop. He just updates often. Period. He will kiss up to any celeb that gives him the time of day cause he is the unattractive fat gay guy who hasn't had a date in YEARS. Now #8, SNAP OUT OF IT!

Hilton seems to forget the days when he used to beg for money on his website from readers. I actually sent him some money when he was Pagesixsixsix because I enjoyed his take on Hollywood, and he was crying that he couldn't afford to keep the site up. Now he no longer "writes" about anything but himself and his employer Paris Hilton. Advertisers pay huge money to be on his site and he has become the epitome of a media whore. I'm over Perez.

Perez's need for attention must be pathological. He'll stop at absolutely nothing to gain attention from celebs and their camps. How he gets away with it, I'm not sure...

But I reckon he tries harder than other bloggers to keep the gay issue to the forefront, even though he may cause more harm than good at this point. He's always introducing new queer talents on his site as well. His energy and sense of vision cannot be discounted.

Oh please,#8.

Perez does thngs for celebrities that not even a publicist could do. After all, according to Perez, Paris Hilton will be winning and Oscar, a Grammy, and People's Most Beautiful this year. He isn't a "reporter", he's a celebrity blogger. And while I have my own misgivings about outing (generally, I find it despicable, but understand its potency in exposing hate-mongerers like Rev. Haggard), i certainly don't be believe that a celebrity blogger with as little judgment as Hilton should be calling the shots.

I agree with the majority -- he's an immoral pig, & I think firing is the least of what he should face. Outting people who may not be ready & then tormenting them until they confess is not cool. Good for him outing celebs. They wanted the spotlight so here it is. Too bad if they can't manipulate the public into believing whatever they want us to believe anymore. Ah, the power of the internet. There have been so many failed marriages & broken families because of people being afraid to come out. This is something that has needed to be done for a very long time if anything for the sanctity of the home. As deplorable as Perez can be on his site, this is one good thing he's doing for society & I doubt seriously his career is going anywhere as long as the popularity of the internet grows.

Hell to the yes gay celebs need to be outed, especially if they make money off of us. Perez may be a bit brash and over-the-top but I do agree with his basic premise that if you're going to lie to the public, you should be called out on that lie.

It's bad enough when a straight person tries to out gay people, but when it's family, that's just wrong. Perez is horrible. There are tons of people that would love to be in talks with VH1 over having their own gossip show. It sure shouldn't be him. Besides, who wants to look at his ugly face on tv.

Perez is sheer evil. Nobody with any credibility in the entertainment world should want to be associated with this monster. Nothing is too low or indecent for this despicable, homely creature.

Ariela, good points.

Hence my question, why was VH1 considering him after seeing his posts of him mocking Anna's son death, Steve Irwin, Jon Benet, writing slutty on Sienna's family grave...and his brutal mocking of Demi's daughter Rumer and Whitney's daughter Bobbi Kristina...His constant name calling and nicknaming of people..His word punching of Jennifer Aniston, Heather Mills, Kirsten Dunst.

So why was he considered by Vh1? why is he on their shows? why is he on Fox, CNN, and all those prestigious magazines? why does he keep getting glowing reviews from all of them? Why are they stopping at the outings?

I have had no idea that PH was stealing photos from photogs/agencies. I just learned this valuable info last night (11/16/06) from a poster on PH who provided a link to this site on one of yesterday's threads.

I buy US Weekly, InTouch, Life&Style, and Star (occasionally). IMO, all the photogs and agencies should be compensated for the work and creative effort they provide to their readers like me. As a purchaser of celebrity journalism, it is sickening to think that hard-working trade professionals are experiencing theft of their photographic talent and valuable assets. These assets, I assume, take a lot of time to procure and develop.

As far as whether people should be "outed" or not by ML, my view is that whether someone does so is their personal choice based upon a personal conviction that whatever they do is worthy of publication. No one should be forced "out" by some dude taking pot shots from a corner table in an obscure coffeehouse.

The hating of Jen Aniston, the ridiculing of Suri Cruise, and all the other mean-spirited enviserating of people more talented than him has been enough to drive me away from the PH site.

I am boycotting his site beginning today!

Thanks to all of the illuminating comments above that have assisted me in making my decision.
