Hari Puttar is the Bollywood film by Mirchi Movies about a young Indian boy who moves to London and, with the help of his parents, saves the world. Puttar also bears a resemblance, in name at least, to the marvelously fantastical gay wizard books by J/K Rowling. Which is why Warner Brothers, the distributors of the Harry Potter films, decided to sue the Indian film company to prevent its release.
Well, suck it Bugs Bunny:
"The case has been dismissed. The court said that Warner Bros had known the title of the film since 2005 and had delayed bringing the case to court until the last moment," lawyer Pratibha Singh was quoted by news agency AFP as saying.
The name similarities may have been a fluke: "Mirchi told the court that Hari was a popular Indian name, and Puttar meant 'son' in Hindi and Punjabi."
You'd wonder what Just Kidding Rowling would say in this matter, but she's been so busy with her own Slytherin-themed court case that she's probably rethinking this whole "wildly successful book series" thing right about now.
