Yikes, America's Sweetheart of Journalism is looking a little bit weathered recently. Could it be a few sleepless nights worrying about her position at CBS? Or is it because the channel's recent decision to switch to HD (despite a whoops moment at launch) makes the anchor look like she's wearing some sort of Katie Couric Halloween mask?
The past several years has seen a boom in HD programming, since higher resolutions not only make television watching more cinematic, but also justify Time Warner's increasing fees. But television is not film, so while Mad Men might look fantastic in HD, and the outline of Michael Phelps' bulge at the Beijing Olympics will be on parade for everyone, not everyone can hold up under the scrutiny of digital broadcasting. Let's zoom in, shall we?
While it's true, in the harsh, exacting light of high definition broadcasting, the immobility of Katie's face does scream either "Botox" or "stroke" (click to enlarge photo) — and the wrinkles that were previously hidden by poorer quality footage now seem like glaringly obvious road maps, all pointing south — we're not going to begrudge Couric, 51, a couple of crow's feet.
Especially since the same criticism isn't being slapped on a HD version of Jim Axelrod. And since CNN started broadcasting in HD last September, we haven't seen Lou Dobbs get the treatment either.

Who wrote this? Is it a sexy and precocious former 23/6 intern?
Yeah she's showing signs of aging, but so what? I never see people critiquing men like this. Are women never allowed to age or something? Sexist pigs.
Remember when the "Tiffany Network" had an air-brushed, slim-downed photo version of the "Perky One." What a bunch of buffoons! Did she complain? Sexist pig? How about VAIN?
