Hey Paterson, Porn Taxes Don't Work!

This is a call-out to our own governor who would like to put a tax on pornography: Washington tried it, and the deal died before it ever hit the table. You think politicians are ever going to support a bill that taxes the one thing that is currently saving their marriage?

Rep. Ross Hunter of Medina told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer he would have liked to give the bill a hearing. But Hunter also says he has an obligation to help Washington simplify its tax structure. And he foresaw problems with a bill that would put a different sales tax on goods based on content.

Fair enough, because you are certainly entering murky territory with the whole "what qualifies as porn, anyway?" content-charge. But also, an 18.5 percent tax on porn? Are you kidding? Especially because how would you tax the free stuff most Americans are streaming on X-tube, anyway?
