How Much Would You Pay for Michael Alig's Old Party Haunts?
Too, too much

The Limelight is back on the market since the deal between New York Artist Series and the space fell through. NYAS' head Joe Dirosa said that Limelight's landlord Ben Ashkenazy kept raising the price of the building, which once hosted those infamous raver/industrial/goth parties in the mid 90s, culminating in the arrest of Party Monster Michael Alig and the subsequent name-change of the venue to Avalon.

So how much would you have to shell out to buy the digs? $60 million for the building, but if you don't act fast, that price may soon sky-rocket. Says Dirosa, "I asked what it would cost to buy the building before our agreement and was told $40 million, which I thought was way too high. After all the press, I asked about buying the building again and he raised the price to $60 million."

Lesson learned? Don't ask twice about buying the over-the-hill club/church, unless you want to be given a 20% price increase. Once Alig is out of jail, perhaps he'd be interested in revisiting his old haunts: Ashkanazy might even be willing to give him a discount.
