How to Tell When Russia and Georgia Don't Want Their Battle to be Covered: They Try to Kill You

The Russia-Georgia conflict won't just test President Bush's ability to man up and defend one of the few countries willing to support his war in Iraq — it's also testing the media's ability to survive the conflict. So far, we've counted at least three attacks on journalists trying to cover Russia's invasion of Georgian territory.

• Earlier this week, a Russian plane turned its gun on a BBC crew.

• Fox News reporter Steve Harrigan gets shot at with pistols by Georgian troops, who he calls "irregular, undisciplined, angry, and humiliated."

• And now, Georgian TV reporter Tamara Urushadze gets hit by sniper fire during a live interview, and tries to continue the broadcast even after getting hit in the arm. She retreated to a satellite truck for cover.
