Every news outlet, no matter how big or small, is looking to replicate Fox News' surging ratings with Hurricane Katrina. No angle of the weather horror story is too sensational to throw on the small screen, video phone link or not.
For more than 80 news outlets, the biggest sensational get came in the form of the Kogan family.
Carin and Marty Kogan, along with their children, shot into the spotlight after their plight to escape Katrina's wrath appeared in the Chicago Tribune. What made them so special? Their $3,700 payment to a limo driver to shuttle them from New Orleans to the safety of Chicago.
But their luxurious ride out of harm's way wasn't terror-free. With all those requests for interviews coming in, mama's cell phone was blowing up non-stop — and son Kyle was in danger!
"Kyle had a terrible headache from the phone constantly ringing," she said.
If only the hundreds of thousands in the Southeast would quit their bitching so we could focus on real traumas.
