Is Anna Wintour Being Taken Down By the French?
Her own personal waterloo

In a positively Devil Wears Prada plot twist, Condé Nast employees are rumor-mongering that Si Newhouse is in gay old Paris right now, talking to French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld about moving over to the You Ess of Aye and bumping down/out Anna Wintour from her fashion mountain.

But why would Si force retirement on his most famous editor in chief?

Well, for one the numbers ain't what they used to be. Also: a little oopsie called Vogue Living, and an even bigger one called Men's Vogue.

But here we were, hoping that if Anna got ousted by anyone, it would have been Russian Vogue's Aliona Doletskaya, last seen in town for New York's Fashion Week which also set the gossip mill in motion back in September about Wintour's imminent demise.

So let the lesson be: let's not live every week like it's shark week. Reports of Anna's death (at Vogue) have happened on a near-monthly basis, and even though Si's vacay choice seems to point to a Roitfeld replacement, it may just be a little holiday jaunt down the Riviera.

Besides, we'd be sad to see Wintour and her coiff go in such a predictable way that Meryl Streep had to precog it for us. Anna might be a witch, but she's our country's witch, and Vogue just wouldn't be the same without her.

On the other hand, maybe that's exactly the point.

Sometimes it has nothing to do with talent. It's about opening the window and freshening up the air in the room. A change of perspective; shake things up a bit. I'm betting that Anna Wintour is not broke.

Who's the woman in the picture on the right? She's hot. And who is Anna Wintour? Is it good that a bunch of us don't know who this woman is? But please identify the woman in the picture on the right.

if anyone has been acually paying attention to the cover "art" for the last 6 to 8 months, you can see that Vogue is in deperate need to a fresh perspective. Boring.

I'd be much more interested in American Vogue if Roitfeld was at the helm.
