Is McCain's Camp Trafficking in Subliminal Racism?
Higher some new ad writers, stat

(Click image to enlarge) Not to sound get Oliver Stone-y on you guys, but does this still from a McCain ad Higher have people in the background holding up letters to spell the word "hang?"

And before everyone goes nuts, yes, it's obviously a piece of Obama's "change" slogan that is being held aloft, but the ad never pulls back the dark edges of the shot to reveal it.

See the spot for yourself, after the jump:

This is definitely one of those "judge for yourself" scenarios, but you would think someone in the McCain crew would have caught the not-so-subliminal subtext before this went to air. Of course the official word from up high on the GOP food-chain says the theory is bunk, "We're not even validating such an outrageous and preposterous claim with a comment."

Puh-leeze. There are no accidents in politics at this level, and this is far from the first instance where McPain and/or his campaign staff have had no problem with stoking latent racism in order to win votes. My research has convinced me that McCain is NOT the choice. Why: His nendacity, arrogance, and his obvious anger problems (PTSD???). There is his galling and oft-demonstrated lack of respect for women including his rich trophy wife (whom he called the C word in public and volunteered for a degrading contest in a most unfunny joke) — and the fact that he does not support women getting equal pay for equal work. There is the fact that he is out of touch with real Americans and their very real economic woes, the fact that he is dismissive of the equality deficit causing pain and financial nightmares for GLBT Americans and their children, the fact that his environmental policy (though slightly better than that of his "nukular" pal who had SCOTUS help in landing his soon ending role as White House Squatter), and the fact that McPain does not even know the meaning of the word "surge" or anything about the timeline surrounding the Sunni Awakening (skillfully hidden by failed journalist Katie Couric until she was caught). And while being a POW shows his courage (just as accepting a job as professional killer — as was John Kerry — shows him to be sadly and dangerously misguided), it doesn't qualify him to be president or to oversee the hired killers (most of whom are unwitting and well-meaning and forced to be there by a terrible economy, but hired killers is what they are whether you call them soldiers or troops or invaders or freedom fighters) on the US payroll. McCain is still convinced that invading a country that did not attack the US was acceptable. It wasn't and isn't and never will be, neither is McCain's consorting with criminals like Bush and Cheney and Karl Rove. Obama is not perfect and he is certainly not progressive. For a progressive candidate currently on the ballot, consider Cynthia McKinney or Ralph Nader. But if you're looking for a candidate with a shot of winning and you care about peace, justice, and compassion, there is one choice: the Obama/Biden ticket. We have a better chance for improvement with him than with Mr. Anger Management.

It's an odd shot, doesn't cut at all with the shot of Obama that proceeds it.

1. the cutaway of this makes it absolutely clear it was intentional. It is in no way symmetrical and it goes to great lengths to cut off the C

2. the campaign may not have caught on to this before they approved the ad, but the media firm was clearly all over this.

you're right, even at the end, right as the picture of obama fades into the mccain logo, the star comes in, and goes right toward obama's face, like a chinese star, they wanna throw chinese stars at obama, and "chinese" stars, thats even more racist

AS SOON AS I SAW HANG, I GOT THE GIST OF THIS AD.

There was no mistake. THey made it in a way, if caught, they will say it was. But they knew what the were doing.

It's like when Hillary said that RFK was assassinated in June. Ummm.. Assassination with a black man running for President. I am sorry but she couldn't wiggle her way out of that even though the "you are using the race card" people knew exactly the conotation of her references.

Differnt day, same shit!!

Far more shocking and disturbing to me is at about 5 secs into the video, there are 3 flashes of light accompanied by pop-pop-pop sounds.

It's McCain's fault that the word "hang" exists within the word "change."

Hahahaha!!! Yeah, McCain is responsible for Obama choosing to overuse the word "change", which happens to have the word "hang" in the middle. Mmmkay. This sort of speculation is part of what keeps everyone on edge about racial issues. Let's all stop, okay?
