Is This Chris Matthews’ Last Hurrah Before Running for Senate?

Swing Vote, a film with a premise (one man will determine the presidential election’s outcome) so mathematically unlikely, it’s almost worth seeing, doesn’t just feature Kevin Costner as the fella that’s going to singlehandedly determine who controls the free world, or Kelsey Grammer and Dennis Hopper as dueling presidential candidates, or Nathan Lane and Stanley Tucci as political operatives.

It also features Chris Matthews, the Hardball host. [NYO] He’s reporting the news: “A single irregular ballot is holding up a final decision for the American presidency. One American citizen will effectively choose the next president of the United States.”

Luckily, that one American citizen is not a woman, or the coverage would be less kind.

No. 1 Sam says:

There is a difference between charming and stupid. Costner seems to be more on the stupid end of things with his character. I’ve yet to see Costner make a movie in the last 10 years that was decent. With the political scenario we having going on at the moment, I can’t see the masses flocking to the theater to see a movie based on political nonsense, which the storyline is pure fantasy. The election process is a very serious matter to most individuals concerning the state of the US, so to watch complete nonsense may not go over well. It’s like asking victims of a recent flood to watch a movie based on a town being flooded out by a dam breaking. Who wants to pay money to relive the experience? The cast of the film is certainly good though.
