This week's Us Weekly took aim at Sarah Palin, turning her maybe-controversies into full-blown scandals. The questioning over whether her fifth child is actually her grandchild; her husband's DUI; the investigation about the attempted firing of her former brother-in-law — all wrapped together it became Janice Min's "Babies, Lies & Scandal" cover. And taken with Us' prO-bama cover, as well as owner Jann Wenner's donations to the Obama campaign and his repeatedly putting the Democratic candidate on the cover of Rolling Stone, it's easy to see this week's Us as yet another Wenner-orchestrated hit job on the GOP. Except it sooooo wasn't, Min insists.
According to the Us editor, Wenner had nothing to do with the cover story, since he was on vacation.
We're not buying it, since: 1) Wenner is always on vacation; and 2) Wenner is known to meddle with his magazines' covers, especially when it comes to politics.
But we do love Min's aggressive defense of its hatchet job story: It's silly to assume Us is biased against the McCain campaign because, Min says, "the writer on the piece is a McCain supporter." Until Election Day.
BONUS! Here's Us senior editor Bradley Jacobs defending the cover on Fox News, where he clarifies the "lies" the magazine mentions on the cover are the ones the liberal blogosphere is perpetrating, not the ones Palin told. Which the cover totally doesn't insinuate at all.
Fail.

Probably the best reporting done on the disgraceful job US did.
Even if you don't like Palin or McCain or anyone remotely connected to the Republican party or the conservative side of American politics, this cover was so intentionally misleading and wrong. Talk about taking something and running with it before properly checking the facts. And it was seriously tacky to choose that cover photo. What, wasn't there any available of the woman alone? But no, I guess it's better to show the newborn son and state he has Down's Syndrome next to the Title "Babies, Lies & Scandal" as if he was specifically what that story referred to. Shame on you US Magazine!
I don't care who Jann Wenner supports for President, but this is such a blatant conflict of interest as to be laughable. Libs have no ethics, although that hasn't always been so. Walter Cronkite managed to deliver the news every evening without bias, even though he was a liberal. Today? No ethics. If they have an outlet to bash someone they disagree with, they use it. Just look at MSNBC. They don't even try to pretend they are objective.
First, of all I want you to know I have never brought or read your mag. and now I never will. It belongs in the trash like it is. I was watching Fox News (Fair and Balance) no bias, like MSNBC. Was watching Megan Kelly (Hooray for her) Your editor, don't remember his name and glad of it, trying to explain the acticle, boy was she good about showing how bias and UNFAIR YOUR mag is, after them showing the cover of Omass and his wife. How you think lighting them seem to be. I hope you aplogy to Sarah Palin and her family (our next Vice-President of our United States,_ a peson who show intelligent, common sense and indergity. And it shows how inportant (lack of)you are. Donna Hall
When I worked at Us, Jann Wenner got a crush on Bachelor Andrew Firestone and insisted we put him on the cover. Back then, reality stars weren't "cover-worthy." Whadduya know, Jann's man-lust gave a bump in sales to the mag. When his dick choses the cover, it's a hoot!
I bought my wife a 2 yr subscription to U.S.Weekly magazine last Christmas as a stocking stuffer. I thought she would get a kick out of the deprecating articles about the Hollywood celebrities.

After seeing the slanderous, malicious, attack-driven “cover story†entitled, “Babies, Lies & Scandal†meant to publicly embarrass Governor and Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin of the great State of Alaska, U.S. Weekly can take its communist drivel and peddle it to some unsuspecting victim elsewhere. To be honest, we all know that U.S. Weekly is far from the caliber of legitimate journalism.
However, since it has a readership in the millions, U.S.Weekly, is clearly trying to flex its Beverly Hills political muscle. U.S.Weekly should stick to what it knows best, like what Madonna has to say about saving the world and how noble she is by adopting children from third world countries. We all know how much better the USA would be with Madonna at the helm; after all she is best friends with another Hollywood liberal political force, Oprah Winfrey. To add to this phenomenal development, Madonna and Oprah, clearly are grounded and certainly connect with minimum wagers in this country, after all we all know that they don’t make much money and live in modest housing to remain relatable to the public. Madonna loves America so much that she spends most of her time in England. Oprah loves America so much that she launched her own magazine called, “O†and graces its covers every month so that all of us unfortunate working folks can be inspired by her grace and ability give away merchandise on her self-aggrandizing show.
The Republican Party has never been popular with the Hollywood set, and I don’t think that will change anytime soon. However, the public knows that you, Ms. Min and Ms. Wenner, are just employees of the New York Times which publishes U.S.Weekly. We aren’t fooled and we aren’t stupid. Both of you are openly and unequivocally Pro-Obama. You have doted and fawned over he and his wife with a child like naiveté. Your Pro-Obama coverage is a shining example of your liberal and leftist leanings. You are the sycophants that are repeating the pattern of Thomas Feyer, the NYT editor that raves about Obama and refused to print future President John McCain’s Op-Ed because our next President, John McCain did not agree with Feyer’s liberal rants.
Attacking Governor/Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin was the wrong thing to do. Not only have you energized the conservative political base in this country because of it, but you have galvanized those that truly love America and defend it for a living as I do. For your feeble attempts at a political insurgency against McCain/Palin, you will most definitely be rewarded!
With a decisive McCain/Palin win!
i think alot of people are sick and tired of one sided pubs, they blew it big time.. bye bye US
US Weekly have lost one more subscriber, as has Rolling Stone.
Jann Wenner's politics aren't what I should be paying for with my subscription, and he is the sole reason why I'm canceling both subscriptions.
Yeah she's just as bad with the whole Jenny McCarthy article. Her bias shines through incredibly talking about how McCarthy tried to get a chance to see McCain and he didn't want to speak to her. Now she's voting Dem. I found this article trying to contact her. I will NO longer read US weekly that's for sure!
