Staffers at Parents magazine love their celebrity gossip as much as the rest of this TMZ-revering nation, so they were fawning over People’s $6 million Jennifer Lopez baby photos this week, too. Except they spotted something awry with the new mom’s six-figure nursery.
Basically, it’s a baby death trap!
The Meredith Corp.-owned magazine was only too pleased to call out Time Inc.’s tabloid’s nursery pictorial, which includes crib “suffocation hazards” called pillows, stuffed animals, and blankets. The “dramatic draped canopies hanging over the cribs” are cause for “strangulation.” And the “cute bows tied onto the crib slats” are “choking hazards as soon as the babies are big enough to get their hands on them.” And there’s an open window sans window guard. CAN YOU BELIEVE?!

It’s all done for the photographs first of all and second of all, nothing happens when newborns, who are sleeping on their backs, sleep. It’s in a month or two….
Oh please, do you really think newborn babies are going to magically fly out of the crip and jump out the window? As for the bows, are they going to stand up and grab them off at their age. The canopy…are you telling me that J.Lo and Marc Anthony didn’t hire someone to fasten them up there good enough?

I agree with you guys… let the poor woman enjoy her new babies and the BEAUTIFUL room they made for them. She looks insanely incredible and happy to be a mom, just as I did when my daughter was born… maybe People and Parents should do a piece on the REAL issues of unsafe environments for babies… like, say, DRUG ADDICT PARENTS or babies of parents involved in CRIME, or parents that BEAT their children. Shoot, I think it’s safe to say that child abuse and drugs and crime/violence are MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH worse for children than some stinkin’ bows. The press REALLY needs to take a good step back and get the REAL issues in this world. When we’re all searching for cover from a bomb someday, they’ll still be out capturing stories about Britney’s uncovered privates or J-Lo’s dangerous bows. God. Haha. The lack of intelligence and priority in this world FLOORS me.
