Jesse Jackson's Anti-Obama Rant Will Be Perfect Fuel For the Right Wing

Hot air

So what if the Rev. Jesse Jackson said he wants to "cut [Obama's] nuts off"? Oh … they caught it on tape? Hmmm … that could be damaging. And he made some other, potentially racist comments? So … that can't be good. And you say The O'Reilly Factor is going to air the comments on tonight's broadcast? Huh … well, that could be quite terrible really.

Jackson only has himself to blame — not only because he made the comments, but because he made them while he was mic'd up, about to give an interview to Fox News on Sunday morning.

Of course, Jackson didn't know the mic was hot, but given how media savvy somebody like Jackson should be, and how we're living in a post-Katie Couric world, that this recording made it's way to the surface is all his fault. So, too, will be the fall out, which will certainly include Barack's camp downplaying the significance of the comments (and saying he still welcomes Jackson's support), and endless apologies from the reverend himself, which he already got a jump on with CNN.

Jeez Louise…It took me 6 links to find out what he actually said!! All the news is saying "Rude, obscene remarks" Are we that infantile that we can't read these words!!?? This country is truly turning into a juvenile, senile spiral down…We are adults we can read "Cutting Nuts off" That's what he said..are we 5 years old?? Thatnks for at least posting this…I'll have to read here instead of all the MSm, Fox, USAtodat, NYT etc etc…

What a stroke of political brilliance! I'm no conspiracy theorist, but this one is just TOO PERFECT!!! Jesse has been on TV WAAAAAYYY TOO LONG to know that what he was saying wouldn't be overheard. Think of how beautifully this all works for Obama: Jesse is a polarizing figure which he and CERTAINLY Obama know. Jesse makes this politically and racially charged statement, and Obama promptly takes the high road. White moderate swing voters–the ones who will make or break this election for Obama–are impressed by his high-mindedness, and, despite Obama's having accepted Jesse's apology, Obama now has a ready-made excuse for having NOTHING to do with the polarizing Rev Jackson in the remaining months before the general election (again–a huge "plus" for Obama where the white moderate vote is concerned). This move also short circuits any potentially costly summer/fall showdown between a moderate, black presidential candidate and the far-left, black leader of the Rainbow Coalition. Had that happened, Obama would have found himself between a rock and a hard place, knowing how crucial both white swing voters AND a huge African-American turnout are. Now it's a moot point–they won't be seen within a mile of each other until mid-November at the earliest. What's in it for Jesse, then? Why would he agree to throw himself under the bus like this (he really comes of bad in the very short term, but then again, our collective memories are very short term)? Stay tuned for what plum "assignments" may come the Reverend's way in Obama's second term…. You heard it hear first, folks–FAIR AND BALANCED BABY!!! That Obama camp is BRILLIANT!!!

This comment from Jackson is the same comment Jackson would crucify a white person for. He's a huge biggot and needs to be held blasted for this.

Too bad Jesse's nuts weren't cut off before he fathered a child outside of his marriage. THIS IS THE REAL REASON HE IS UPSET WITH SEN. OBAMA: Jesse is an absentee father. How dare he say that Obama is talking down to Blacks. I don't know about Jesse, but Sen. Obama's eloquent speech and his messages is refreshiing to hear. Just because one is Black is know reason not appreciate the truth in our community.
