Floating vicariously through the lives of a the privileged and beautiful people (and that crass Williamsburg family), in Gossip Girl, you've finally found the version of Manhattan you bought into before moving here. But it turns out, all is not real in the lives of Blair, Serena, Chuck, Nate, and Dan. Intern Whitney is Jossip Girl, and she's gonna break it down for you.

Jossip Girl here. Your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite … or at least where the cast members of Gossip Girl work and play.
This week, we ventured over to the Palace Hotel, home to Serena and Chuck.
Many dramatic scenes have been filmed in the courtyard and at Gilt, the second-floor bar. Two glasses of wine cost $35, but the drinks came with a free treat — pretzel sticks, which we're sure could serve as dinner for many of those skinny Upper East Siders.
What they showed: A casual bar that serves alcohol to minors and lets the guests hang out in the kitchen while enjoying a grilled cheese sandwich made with truffle oil.
What we found: First off, there were no Upper East Side teenagers in sight; in fact, it seemed we missed the memo that only people over the age of 40 were allowed. And, despite being of legal age, we were carded — sorry underagers!
We weren't allowed in the kitchen, but the truffle oil grilled cheese is available … for a mere $50! For that price, you can correctly assume the place was not without pretentious guests: After sitting at the bar for at least 30 minutes, a lady wearing a ridiculous fur coat arrived and demanded we had stolen her seat. We didn't argue.
Verdict: In real life, we highly doubt there are any dramatic scenes taking place at Gilt, except for maybe a brawl over seating. But as far as a hot spot for Upper East Side teens, this is not it. We would go back for the truffle oil grilled cheese sandwich if someone wants to buy, though.
