Jossiping With Nadine Haobsh
The Semi-Regular Feature Is Back Due To Popular Demand (From Our Boss)

I love how it shows she needed a staff of, like, 36 to get her looking that way. You started out as just a nice, Southern girl from Atlanta, Georgia. What happened? Kidding! Well, sort-of. But seriously, have you found that you've gotten more jaded since getting immersed in the NYC fashion/beauty scene?

I became jaded years ago, but then I left New York to gallivant around for a while, and I think it made me a lot more grounded. Now I'm so wide-eyed, I'm practically corn-fed. In fact, swear to God, I actually have my hair in pigtails right now. Gag. It's easy to get caught up in the NYC media thing, but that's a very, very, very small part of America.

Indeed! So, after you're done teaching people how to properly operate a curling iron (which, PS, is harder than it looks) what's your dream writing job?

My next book is coming out in September 2008, but if I can slowly but surely carve out a career that allows me to write books full-time for the rest of my days, I would be a happy girl, indeed! I don't think I'll ever be able to give up blogging, though. It's too much fun.

Speaking of which, what's the hardest thing about writing a book? And when do you do your best writing?

I do my best writing while under pressure, with my deadline mere days away, so it seems! For me, the hardest thing about writing a book is staring at that blank page, wondering where you're going to begin. Once I have a few words and ideas down, I find that it flows. I like keeping odd hours when I write, though, and can't really conform to a normal schedule. This summer, while finishing my second book, I found myself writing until 7am and waking at 3pm! Of course, it took me a few months to get there, but it was simply what my body wanted to do. I think the Red Bull may have also played a part.

Facebook or MySpace?

Facebook all the way. MySpace gives me a headache. It's good birth control.

And lastly, to continue Corynne's tradition, what do you eat for breakfast? And don't say oatmeal and blueberries.

This morning, I ate two turkey hot dogs! With mustard. Quite yummy.

And what time was breakfast, Miss Blogger?

8:15 am! I have to wake up earlier, being on the west coast now. Left to my own devices, I'd be sleeping until you guys left work, probably.

For the record, Nadine admitted she wore pajamas all day yesterday during our pre-interview chat but said, "I didn't change out of my pajamas yesterday, but to be fair, it was Sunday and I had a cold." Touché.
