"Unfortunately I have found out that many viewers are afraid of change. The glory days of TV news are over, and the media landscape has been dramatically changed. News is available now for everyone, everywhere, all the time, and everybody fights for the last pieces of the shrinking pie. The corporate pressure and the ratings terror are intensifying all the time, and the situation is not simple. I find myself in the last bastion of male dominance, and realizing what Hillary Clinton might have realized not long ago: that sexism in the American society is more common than racism, and certainly more acceptable or forgivable. In any case, I think my post and Hillary's race are important steps in the right direction." — Katie Couric, to Israeli paper Haaretz

'..that sexism in the American society is more common than racism.' Easy there Katie…
I agree that sexism in America is a problem. But to compare it to racism?? You need to educate yourself Miss Katie because you are so wrong!
in the USA…
African American men were granted the right to vote in 1867, while women were granted the right to vote in 1920.
As of the 2005 Census, Asian women, while earning the highest income than any other women's ethnic group (including Caucasian women), still earned less than African American men. Furthermore, the overall income gap favoring men is 0.765 in the US.
So, yes, sexism is the bigger problem in the US. This fact is clearly illustrated by the many individuals who continue to shamelessly and systematically ignore historical facts which clearly support this notion, i.e. the 2 posters before me.
@ socially conscious,
Because you are slow I will explain this to you, Slavery was abolished in some places in 1839 and other dates depending on where.
Not because slavery was outlawed it wasn't haoppening. Black men got the right to vote and still couldn't.
And as for black men making more than Asian women, please do show the statistics, since over 50% of black males don't even graduate high school. Black women are 4 to 1 in college compared to black males.. So please show me the numbers.
The sad part is that people believe this bull.
Shut up already and stop twisting crap!!
Katie Couric is whining but she doesn't even deserve that job with her annoying voice. Maybe she should work harder and stop crying.
And as for Hillary Clinton. If Obama were a white male with his same uniqueness, she wouldn't have gotten half the votes she had. And since she lost fair and square, she whines that it is because of sexism. Give it up already.
Obama is screwed because he's black and I don't see him whining..
Hey, do you still have a profile on 'Ric h k iss.co m'? I saw it days ago. And there we re many nice pics of you. I love them. Are you still there?
I'm sorry — tell me again what a white multi-millionaire knows about racism in America (other than what she reads on a teleprompter)?!?
http://lifeisacookie.wordpress.....-a-victim/
seriously…you make hundreds of millions and you complain that you don't get a fair shake because your a woman? get outta here!!!!!!! its always so rich white woman talking about how bad they have it. and i am white, so i am even more offened by this bull than most. can't wait till she gets canned.
Ever walk down the street and watch men of all races objectify women? Mmmm hmmmm. That's one of the reasons we're doing a comedy in NYC, "feminazi", to address these issues, both in and out of the workplace.
