Keith Olbermann May Not Respond to Viewer Email, But Viewer Comments? Sure!

nbclogo2.jpg

Fire Dog Lake, a left-y political blog that isn't MyDD or DailyKos, invited MSNBC counterdowner Keith Olbermann for special segment called "Keith Olbermann responds to your comment flame wars." It's a nifty gimmick, and it seemed to work: Nearly 500 back-and-forth comments were posted, with Keith choosing a few here and there to repsond to. Like this one, No. 77:

Tru @ 19

Hi Keith! Thanks for coming here. Love the book

Keith, by sheer fate of alphabetical order, you’ve ended up on the shelves of bookstores across America right next to Bill O’Reilly. How do you feel about that? Are you worried at all about his books contaminating yours by sheer physical contact?

It makes my photo look great. Plus, in a lot of the stores here in NYC the “30% off” stickers have been placed on Billo’s face. Coincidence, no doubt.

More interesting, however, were the comments that went unanswered, like No. 479:

Keith - the next time you’re in Sacramento, can I buy you a drink?

Sorry, kiddos. Keith has learned his lesson about meeting viewers.

I think it's just this kind of activity that hurts Keith's credibility. There is no doubting that Firedoglake is a very partisan (far left liberal) website. And why would he not sign books in public but could take time to go to a liberal website where they'd be sure to kiss his ass (and boy did they)? Sorry, I may be a liberal but I'm not drinking the kool aid some of these sites are pushing these days and I'm deeply disappointed in KO for being so obviously biased and in supporting some of these sites.

    Morally and financially irresponsible?

I think the time has come for Congress to cut off funding for
the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq? How else can it be stopped?
Can we uphold the responsibility for further deaths of service men
and woman in uniform there, let alone the life’s of more Iraqis?
Can we approve of mortgaging our future generations, it costs billions that we don't have.
Would the whole struggle of spreading terrorism not be served better by putting all our resources

together and help formulate a genuine peace effort between Israel and Palestine

    - would that not be the signal to send?
